'Asking prince is £20 short of a £2000 saving on this year's kit price.
You would need to be sure what you're getting with this kit:
The rear lamp surrounds and rear louvres are not shown in the photos. These are normally included in the standard kit.
However, there is an alloy rear sloping bulkhead fitted, and door bars too.
If I'm not seeing things, there is also a pair of genuine Lancia Stratos rear hubs fitted.
I doubt they'll be included in the price?!
I'd love to know what "I've decided to build a genuine Grp 4 Stratos" means?!
There must be folk out there who are prepared to put the time in to build a steel tub?
Surely there can't be any genuine shells lying around after the years have gone by. not even damaged ones?
In these days of laser cutting it surely makes it easier to produce a set of components to assemble one from.
Has anyone any pictures of the fabled Gartrac shells?
Or buy a 'GTO tech' tub?
I know one man who built the Gartrac tubs. Originally from Wales, he also worked as a fabricator for Reynard and then Prodrive.
He explained to me how the steel roofs had to made in more than one piece. They had an original tub sat outside the workshop for reference.
This information now added to the advert:
"PLEASE NOTE THIS KIT COMES COMPLETE WITH ALL THE PARTS THAT' HAWK SUPPLY WITH THE KIT.
I will add photos at the weekend of all the parts included in this kit as I have had enquires on what is sold with the bodyshell."
Since photos and info have been added, everything in the photos (if rear uprights and front upright extensions are included, they're not shown) would cost a total of £19,428 new.
So possibly a £4,428 saving, and no wait.
'Might still need fuel tanks, window mechs. front alloy side panels, springs and shocks etc.
Does that original figure include VAT?
Personally, I wouldn't be paying a VAT element on a secondhand sale.
No seller on ebay, business or private, is allowed to quote a non VAT inclusive price. Here:
"Please remember: eBay is primarily a consumer marketplace. Therefore, VAT registered sellers are not permitted to add VAT to the final item price after a buyer has won the item."
You see on the odd occasion someone trying it on, but it's out of order and reportable.
No sale first time round - up for sale starting at £1000 - that's gotta attract some bids?

Finished at near enough £10k:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lancia-Str...vip=true&rt=nc
Roughly half of new price.
And that price includes the donor 164....
Winning bidder known to me.
Guy
Are you sure Half of anew price ????
considering that you should add to the very limited list of parts in the add ;
Rear uprights and hubs
front and rear shock absorbers
all glazing
Modification of the front standard fiat uprights
door hinges and boot hinges
Fuel tanks
steering rack ( and its' not a small word speaking of an stering rack for a hawk )
Seats, transmissions
Just do a calculation of what the winner have got ; chassis , bodywork , and those parts and you will may be found that
this price is not that big bargain some one could have done
What surprise me is reading the advert it was written this is a kit gr 4 as delivered by the manufacturer ; so I can understand
that seats and shock absorber can be an option but all the specific others parts ( rear uprights etc etc ) where have they finished ???
now what would be the real price when all those needed part will be added ?????
Hi Mic, the glazing and hinges are part of the base kit, modification of the stub axles is also included. The transmission will be in the donor car?
Yes, the buyer will need to get a rack, tanks, seats, exhaust and shocks/springs bearings and hubs, brakes etc etc. But it's still a very good price?
Guy
So Guy ; if you do the total the buyer have paid plus the parts he have to buy you would probably reach 19/20 000 pounds ?
??? Very close probably to the listing price
So the bargain is ... say 2/3000 ?
No Mic, I have an old price list to hand and I think prices have risen since then. The base kit on the old price list is £13,650 and the round arch group 4 adds a further £1,520. (that option includes the tail and roof spoiler and lamp pod kit and roof vent.) The Group 4 dash is £480 but I suspect that is an extra price if you take the stradale dashboard too. So that lot is £15,500 plus any subsequent price rise plus 20% VAT. So I guess that's a half price kit when you take the donor into account.
Obviously there are also all the other components needed to build the kit ...
Guy
Otherwise there may be tonight one happy man, the buyer ( and welcome to him in the Stratos builder family :o) and a disapointed man, the seller !!! originally he wanted a minimum of 15000:cool:
Hope anyway that replica second hand prices will raise again becuse in a month have benn sold ; 1 ready stunning blu Hawk car at less than 40000euros and one Hawk brand new kit at less than 10000 pounds !!!!!!!:(
Current base kit £14,150, GP4 option £1,620 + Vat £3154 = £18,924.
Struan
oupppppppsss Finnally you where both right !!!!! it have been a good bargain !!!!!!;););)........until that sale willnot be canceled due to some strange and unknown reason .........:p:o:rolleyes::cool::confused:
I'll have a look through my history file and let you know if I've got any..
How old are you wanting? I may have some 1980s ones.
Have a look at the thread " 1986 prices " dated 3. 2. 2017
David
If you buy everything on the Hawk list for a GP4 car, it is around £35,000. A lot of parts can be sourced elswhere or made more cheaply, but it depends how you value your time....
If you take ten years or more to build it it starts to get expensive, by any reckoning.
Struan
The sale went through smoothly with no issues at all.
