Damn.... both car and driver has the "right setup" and the X1/9 is really driven in anger....

Same family and the same designer too.....
A friend of mine is buliding a Dallara replica, just 11 original cars based on the X 1/9 was ever made.

Thanks for sharing.

What a little screamer that is. I'm sure there's room for one of them in you garage Phil.

I owned a gold, Mk2 one of those back in 1978. Just as they brought in the US type approval ugly big bumpers. Great fun to drive However, the flippin' thing constantly overheated in traffic and the car went through five or six factory radio/tape players.

This one's 25 miles away - should I then? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-FIAT-X1-9-RED-MOT-JULY-2013-59000-GENUINE-MILES-/261134022099?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cccccf5d3

Not with F & R bumpers looking like that Chris. Get an older one.

Can they be retro-converted?

Yes Chris, Not really that difficult if you can fabricate a few simple brackets. Difficulty would be getting hold of the good quality original bumpers and over rider sets.
Here's one I did a couple of years ago complete with ladder stripe decals.
