Don't know, but they used Stradale type rear arches on Sweden and Safari because they didn't need the wide tyres.
In snow and ice you would use the narrowest tyre permitted with studs.................................... some of the Grp4 cars with wide arches used to look stupid with snow tyres on....... there are photo's of Darniche on the Monte going over the Col's

Yes of course they looked silly, but I wondered what size they were...
Hi Struan
Don't know what size but i guess they would be about 155 wide (ish).......... we need an anorak............ calling Mr Jarvis or Mr Abbott !!... LOL
Phil
Looks like Pirelli no longer makes them, but Michelin (http://www.michelin.com/corporate/EN/content/motorsportDocuments/2012_Circuit_Tire_Catalog.pdf) does.

I have had the pleasure of trying these extreem rally wintertires on a frosen lake, and it can best be described as moist / wet asfalt but more predictable.
Flick it in the scandinavian way and then adjust with the throttle.....
Amazing how much fun a tuned up SAAB 2 liter turbo engine and some steel tubing can be :)
