Good fibreglass man will repair all of that, do you really need to get new panels?

Insurance pays and then you've got a spare?

I seem to recall that I wasn't getting much change out of £7K for front and rear clams when I had my close encounter with the dry stone wall.

That looks like a flesh wound only and an easy repair though !

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Chris.
If it's a case of pricing up for insurance, the parts should be replaced to make it as good as before, no matter how slight the damage.
The rear lamp surround can't be repaired in any case, you'll loose the textured surface in the process.

I'm guessing at least £2500 Enzo. It's just a guess though.
'Might be more with the paint work?

I redid the surrounds to get rid of the leather grain and never liked what looked like cracks in the gelcoat which were actually transfer from the manufacturers tooling.

I think it'll be £3500 for the 5 pieces (clam/louvres/spoiler/2 light surrounds) then fitting, finishing and paint on top.

'Think you're probably right Chris. Claiming for new louvres is a bit strong? They'll need refitting though, I suppose?

John,

They have to have the grain. I don't care how 'naff' it looks!
The orange Prototype had a 'tap' (by the first owner) on the rear corner, which I'm guessing was very similar to the above. Chris Smith repaired one surround, and had to make the other a similar smooth finish to match. I never saw the car post 'spin'.

Wouldnt be that bad I guess but having fake, moulded in gelcoat cracks is a bit crap or to some, the ultimate in replication!

Enzo, Having had a very similar "incident" with a multi storey car park pillar last year, I know what you will be feeling like, but isn't the answer to buy a new light surround, and repair the rest? and it will be a lot cheaper, as well as quicker to get it back on the road.

Dealing with insurance companies every day of the week, if this was the UK they would run a mile from fitting a new clam shell. Repair all day and at £30 per hour if your lucky.

I got a new Hawk front and new epoxy finished front grille for my dark blue car (+paint). No quibbles. The louvres were fine.
