Had a great day today at Blyton with my mates Chris & Gary in a Westfield. Not had the car out since Cadwell where it blew a hose so was a bit apprehensive but as it happens we had a great day.

One question arose though during the day which I'm looking for advice please. I was getting a small amount of oil coming out of the gearbox on the top. I couldn't pinpoint it for certain but I think it was coming out from around the vertical shaft coming out of the top of the box (under the cover). If I take the actuator arm off, and release the plate beneath, which looks to be held in place with 2no small bolts, is there an O ring in there which can be replaced?

If you are not sure where the oil is coming from, I would guess its coming from the gearbox vent.

Thanks Neil

I didn't know there was such a thing. It's never happened before but I had just done an engine oil change the day before. Is it engine oil that would come out of there or is it the Gearbox oil? I know that sounds like a daft question but just trying to work out if there's any connection with the issue that I've never experienced it before and I've only just changed the engine oil....I've not touched the gearbox oil.

The vent is from the gearbox so nothing to do with the oil change. Unless you spilled the oil.....

No spillage. It was definitely coming out after each session on the track. I kept removing the plastic cover and drying it out as the first time I noticed it was when enough had come out to drip onto the driveshaft which was then thrown about over the rear clam and the nearside rear tyre. I'd guess about an egg cup full had come out. In the end I tied an old piece of rag around the shaft to soak it up and then refitted the cover which worked to enable me to still have some track time.....odd

I'll check the gearbox oil level and see if it's over-filled as I suspect that would cause it to come out of the vent. I'll report back with my findings but must start packing now as going to France again tomorrow for a break with the family. Thanks for your help Neil. Au revoir
