Just a fresh appeal on this.
If anyone has even a bare casting in serviceable order I'd be very grateful for it.
I sincerely hope it doesn't come to this but if I can't sort the cooling issues with the spare 12 valve engine I've installed in Frederic's car then I'll have to look at rebuilding the engine which failed after only 250 miles or so of gentle use. Only I'll get it done by someone who knows what they are doing this time........

I've got a tired engine you're welcome to John. There are some odd bolts missing from it but if you feel the need to pop over and have a look just drop me a line!

Hello Guy, and thanks for that.
I would of course preserve the rest for anyone else struggling for parts.
I take it this is the engine from which you gave me the flywheel option when I was searching the other week?
I have your mobile number from that occasion so I'll give you a ring.

That's the one John. It ran fine when I removed it to upgrade to the Cloverleaf but felt down on power to me. You may be able to swap it out and see if it exhibits the same issues as the current motor?

I could use the sump!

Hi Tim, John hasn't taken the engine yet but I do have a spare NOS sump that didn't fit the Cloverleaf motor. I'm not sure why and don't know if it will fit the 12v motor. It's been fitted with a boss for the oil temperature gauge (the boss was supplied by Gary so it's likely that your sump has this already). If you would like this I'll happily post it to you at the weekend and you can see if it'll fit your motor. We can sort out what the postage and value is later?

I'm still waiting for word back on the pressure testing of the intact heads I have. Should get confirmation by tomorrow.

Guy,
do you have any pictures of the sump with the boss fitted, I'm trying to do this currently, and if there is an opportunity NOT to re-invent the wheel!!

I'll add that to my list of stuff to do this week Griff...... If you look at the front of the sump pan you'll see a raised circular spot in the fins, this was drilled and a threaded ally boss welded in. Quite straight forward if you can weld ally!

Hi Griff & Tim, here's the pics of the new old stock modified sump I've got. I haven't found out the exact fitment yet but you can see the part numbers on the casting which might help track down the engine type this sump will bolt to?

Cheers

Here are some more pics of the sump Tim, if you can identify the engine it fits I can decide what to do with it!

Cheers

Found this post on Alfa BB - maybe it helps identify sump?

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/164-168-1991-1995/161232-91-164l-oil-pan-2.html#post841019

If you Google (images) the part number suggested there (96412235), you can see some very similar pictures to those posted by Guy but on a Brazilian parts site (one picture even shows the sump with that part number affixed on a sticker):

Thanks for that, I'd found the Alfa BB post but they don't appear to have come to a firm conclusion! The second link appears to confirm that it should fit a 12v V6. I'm half tempted to rip the old pan off the spare motor at the weekend and see if it fits and then reassemble. At least that would give a definitive answer. Trouble is I've used up all the brownie points with handbag control going to the Manchester Classic Car show last weekend.....

Guy

I have just come to same conclusion as David and p/n 96412235 cross references else where on the interweb.

Further eper lists that p/n as 164 v6 sump - all models (also fiat croma if you search the part number globally in eper).

Also eper indicates this sump is fitted without gasket, just sealant and as such is increased thickness of flange by 2 mm!!!
