Hi,

I'm busy collecting donor parts for a lister bell build.

Do I need the chrome boot/bonnet release too or just the door handles?

cheers

Hi

I don't know exactly how the LB works but if you have the chance to get the boot/bonnet release do so ! (you can always sell them on if you decide not to use them)

Andy,

I am building a LB. The boot/bonnet release levers operates the Fiat X19 boot/bonnet release catches (2 required) which secure the rear body section to the chassis on the LB. The catches on the Fiat are identical, one is used for the engine cover and the other is used for the boot cover. If you source from one car the engine catch will be more corroded.

Thanks Gordon. So where do the levers mount on the LB?

Same place as an original stratos, in the door reveal, below the keep.

Might I suggest purchasing the super profile book? Loads of pics in there to help with component positioning.

But be warned that the picture of the release handle in that book is upside down....

You'll find that the LB body does not have a recess moulded into the door reveal as per picture. That's not saying you can't cut a hole, but the release would sit proud.
As I'm not looking for 100% authenticity, Im planning on fitting a pull handle discreetly behind the seats. I believe this is what some other LB builders have done, not all, I know Ian's Alitalia car has it positioned as original.

I have a chrome boot release handle (no keys) that I could be tempted to sell if anybody wants one.

I fitted them to my LB in the normal position, one lever for each catch. Sorry for the poor picture it's the only one I could find.

There isn't a recess on a hawk either. Try some plasticine shims to check clearance but sure there'd be ample space.
