View Full Version : Tire size question

Greetings:

I have a transformer and it has 4 lug hubs. I currently have a set of 15"x7(.5)"? front and 15" x 9.5(10?)" rear.
The tires on it are really nothing but rollers and all the wrong sizes (rear barely roll due to size).
What size tires would be proper for these wheels?

Also, is a 5 lug kit available to change over. I would like to get coffins for it at some point and don't care for the 4 lug version.

Thanks and regards;
Tony

I'd say 205*50*15 fronts and 225*50*15 rears.

Hub conversion will also involve disc changes (but I'm sure you realised that!) I think Delta Integrale or Alfa 147 five stud hubs fit the rear hubs/Beta CV joints. Gerry does a five stud front hub conversion in a 98mm PCD that'll match the Integrale/Alfa rear hub pattern.

Alternatively I think you can convert the fronts using Fiat Dino Coupe front hubs which (and please check) are 108mm PCD, not sure what the matching alternative rear would be off the to of my head.

Obviously you need to consider which PCD you want first Tony, Gerry can supply the wheels in either PCD but 108 is the original size.

Hope that helps?

Cheers

Guy

Yes, the Alfa 147 or Delta EVO hub for 5 x 98mm (Fiat part number 82466910) is the same part for the rear. Some info from this forum here:

5 x 108mm is possible too.
Here's just one front Fiat Dino hub (straight swap for your Fiat 4 stud hub) for sale:

308 and 246 Ferrari use the same Fiat part as above. 'Difficult to get them affordable though, and all the ones on ebay US come with the Ferrari upright, which you don't want. The dimensions of the stub and bearings are exactly the same as the Fiat 132 / Polonez etc.

Hi Chris,
Interesting, did you make a sleeve to step the centre bore on the Ford hub/flange up from 63.4mm to the Ferrari's 67.1mm ?

I think Marcus has PAG wheels on the car now, so they wouldn't be needed right now.
It is the best thing to have wheels centred. Especially with wheel bolts, but also with studs and nuts.

Not all wheels have spigots:

Personally I wouldn't be happy without a centering spigot on the back of any car that runs reasonable power, weight & traction.
Yes you can argue that the wheel is centered on the bolt/nut tapers but a positive centering location is essential in my mind.

I agree, it takes the vertical load on its own.

Also helps to ensure the wheel runs true otherwise your relying on some countersinks in the bolts which is not so accurate, especially in mass produced pressed steel wheels.
