Phoned KwikFit on Tuesday and explained I had a Stratos replica, that it was setup before by them and is all rose jointed that the joints need to be undone before adjustment.
"Ok sir, we can do that, we have the best system there is". I booked for 13:00 Friday.
I turned up, to have 4 KwikFit guys stand around and be told. " We wont be taking this on sir, too much hassle". When I told them it was booked and I had taken a days holiday I was then told "Cant do it, not on the system", I then showed them all the setup numbers needed to be told "The guy who did it before should not have done it".

When I asked about my lost days work, the guy just shrugged.

I have called customer services to see what they say, and am waiting a call!!

You need a good independent. As you've discovered if it's not on their computer they won't do it. To big a risk of them doing something wrong and then having to correct (or pay for) the f**k up.

I think it's worse than that TBH, most of them have zero clue as to what they are actually doing, they just follow the on-screen prompts like semi trained monkeys. I had an interesting conversation with one guy some years back. He had put the fixtures on the rims but they weren't properly set so we're at daft angles. I pointed it out, and he said "nah, it's ok mate, the computer sorts it" my reply was that if it didn't matter how the fixture was aligned to the rim, it may as well be on the floor. He eventually took the point and did it properly. Zero confidence by that point.

Try to find a garage that has an interest in motorsport, classic cars etc. they are more likely to oblige and take great care getting the measurements you supply them. Twenty odd years ago I spent a little time working at a Kwik Fit rival, I built a group N3 Astra while I worked there, two MKII Escorts, a GP A Talbot Samba and a Nova were also built there by the lads, and we had loads of great stuff arriving for us to have a look at the tracking etc!
I still go back there now for my own road cars, and they still take great care to get it right.
