Which campsite do you use one at the circuit or one close by?
David

Guy Mayers
12-02-2017, 11:13
I think it's called Woodlands. Pub and food on site and the shower block is pretty good for a campsite too!

David J
12-02-2017, 11:38
Guy
I have checked on the Woodlands web page, it is not clear what the booking procedure is . Do you have to book ? or does the camping come with the Silverstone tickets.
David

Guy Mayers
12-02-2017, 11:59
I haven't booked yet but it's not included in the Silverstone tickets, we get them from Ken through the club. The camping tickets are bought by yourself and you should be able to get them without buying tickets for Silverstone.

David J
12-02-2017, 14:52
Ken

Please could you put me down for 3 days plus car.

12-02-2017, 17:41
Camping tickets can be bought on the website here

http://silverstoneclassic.seetickets.com/event/general-public/silverstone-circuit/1036177

but to get to the camping page you have to check a box for a day ticket - the one to choose is the under 5 age group which is free of charge and this lets you move to page two where the camping option appears. Check the box for a the three day pass at £49 and see you there on Thursday afternoon?

When working in the Silverstone area we stay at Silverstone Golf Club which has Motel style rooms, decent reasonably priced food and drinks. Can reccomend.
And is just outside the Club Corner end of the circuit.

Hi Ken
Me and my brother usually attend the full weekend and if my car is on the road by then I'd certainly like to bring it.
I may be wrong but I can remember seeing many / any Stradale replicas on the club stand at the Classic
Is it that we can get discounted event tickets for both of us and the car via this club and book Woodlands camping directly via the Silverstone website ?
Many thanks, Graham

David J
23-02-2017, 10:54
Graham
I think you have to book the camping at Woodlands separately using the info that Guy supplied. I have already booked my camping. I too have a red Stradale (Allora) which I built some 29 years ago. Hope to meet up with you at Silverstone, that will make 2 Stradale's on the club stand.

Right
I bought 2 tickets for Friday and Saturday, and Ken bought the same for me. My error, dont ask.
Ken has my club ones if anyone wants them and if he has not sold them on behalf of me.

My ones arrived today in the post, but I dont need them now as I just broke my leg climbing (falling), so also have 2 spare for Friday and Saturday if anyone wants them.
Paul Stratsit has emailed me and I have offered them to him, but if he doesnt want them please shout.

Not in my experience Steve.

A few years ago I managed to off load a set of weekend tickets to a member of Sporting Bears, via the PistonHeads forum.
This was from a time before Ken got really creative for the good of everyone's different ticket needs.
It's amazing how he juggles the SEC ticket allocation, year after year.

Great to see a real one on the stand, Well great to see a real one full stop.!!

Thanks Paul for bringing the car to the Club Stand, and Welcome to the Club.

Paul's car showed the clear differences between the real, and replica cars, when you start to look closer at them side by side. Small bits are missing here and there, return edges on the tub and chassis different etc.
Close the cam's and it becomes harder to spot, mind, and as was pointed out to me, the front louvres are much deeper in design than any of the replicas, they must allow a lot more air flow than the replicas get.

Maybe we need a group buy on some authentic one? Just an idea?

With regard to the front louvres, I heard Gerry discussing them, apparently on all the original cars he has had dealings with he had noticed the the louvres tend to fatigue crack where the louvres but up to the front clam. Therefore he changed the design of the louvres to include a wider section of metal between the edge vent and the clam to prevent this fatigue cracking

Pretty certain that the colour of the LB car is a RAL colour (I could be wrong!). Chris Smith's car is the 'original' Lancia colour but I've had a sample of that made up and it looks a bit washed out in bright lights. Ended up having a colour matched from a 1:18 scale Sunstar model I have which looks the most 'right' for the car, in my eyes. It's not til it's on the car that I'll know for sure, though - too difficult to tell from an A5 test card...!

Yep, I've seen various pics of the original green and in some it looks very pale. Mind you green is a very difficult colour to photograph. I like the colour that Alfaholics used on their restoration, I contacted them and they said they couldn't remember what it was, it was just a colour the owner liked. I think that's their way of telling me they don't want to tell me!

Anyway - apologies for the thread hijack.

As you were.
