I really mean 'hardly started' rather than 'unfinished'.
I know there were never that many at any one time, but now, you never see them at all.

Why is that?

There was this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hawkridge-HF3000-Kit-Car-Lancia-Stratos-Unfinished-Project-Alfa-Romeo-V6-/322053708562?rmvSB=true&hash=item4afbe59b12%3Ag%3AkJoAAOSwLpdW99gh&afsrc=1&clk_rvr_id=1182209212744&nma=true&si=CacGv%252BRq2Aq40IT40zOpAVtJSm8%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

and this from way back in 2012:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LANCIA-STRATOS-GROUP-4-REPLICA-HAWK-HF-Unstarted-Kit-Unfinished-Project-/251168114262?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123&clk_rvr_id=1182177577401&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true

'Can't think of any others recently?

Probably all the ones that have sat under a tarpaulin in the UK have disintegrated and aren't saleable.

Probably all the ones that have sat under a tarpaulin in the UK have disintegrated and aren't saleable.

Or ...... the owners are thinking that they have "historic kits " in hands ( like Gold bars!!) and it's better to leave them for a while like Bank pension funds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

On an other hand some years ago someone was posting in a thread that Hawk have been producing during all those past years 600 kits ......
So there are at least 499 tarpaulins (or barns ) undiscovered to dig out !!!!!!;);););)

Here's a Transformer only just started kit for sale in 1996.
I don't know where it went?:

Here's another Transformer (Spyder) kit for sale in (roughly) 2005.
'Anyone know where this one went?:

Can you remember a guy called Mark (Chamberlin ??) who was a friend of Dave Clarks ?... they both hired a double garage to build the cars side by side, it was over at Ticknall near Calke Abbey in Derbyshire.

I don't know wether or not Mark ever finished or sold his car ?.... if I remember right they were both going to spray their cars the same "Chardonnet" blue.

Hi Phil,
I remember reading about Dave Clarke sharing a garage with another Hawk (Transformer) builder in the newsletter at the time. It was at the time I first joined the club.
No, I don't know what happened to Mark's car, so there's another one gone missing?
We all know where Dave Clark's unfinished Hawk kit ended up, and it was finished in Pirelli colours, not Chardonnet blue?!

By the way, I think I've found the 'for sale' adverts for the two kits above. I'll be back with the details.

It was the whereabouts of the kits really, but the asking prices of those two kits shown was:

For the dusty one sitting on Beta Saloon alloys in 1997, it was £7,780. I think it belonged to 'Mike Hooper' and maybe near or in Bristol?

The one with the compomotive split rims was selling at around £9,250 in 2005, if I remember right.

I can easily think of more registered cars that have 'gone to ground', but maybe that could be a different thread.
It would be Corse and Hawk, as Alloras have a dedicated listing.
Too early for LBs, but maybe there are already one or two that won't be on the scene from now on?
Anyhow, it's more the unfinished kits I'm intrigued with. Where on earth are they all?

If anyone knows of any, do not quote addresses or specific locations, obviously.

Of course these unfinished kits will be difficult to trace as they are not even registered for the road, and some people are just not interested in being a member of the club.

An example was a guy called Peter Ashcroft who had a red stradale with a dino engine

and

Kevin from Sheffield had the "Vauxhall Bronze" grp4 round arch car

and

A white Corse reg V686 NAD which appeared at Abingdon sprint in the early 2001

and

David May who worked in Italy with his Alitalia ish Corse 3.0 24v, he was at Abingdon 2003

and

a Blue Corse reg W842 DUA who also appeared at Abingdon in 2003

and

Q524 MAV a white grp4

and............

V686 NAD was Andrew Dearings Favarin built Corse S. Sold (part x'ed) to Bernie with an RX7 in the equation somewhere. Bernie appeared on the forum for a while when he owned it but it got sold on to Ireland I believe.
W842DUA was David Carsons car (Hugh's brother) 12valve Alfa powered at the time. Last I heard was being fitted with F355 engine and box and the Alfa engine is with Steve Struthers for his Allora rebuild.
Q524MAV belongs to Jan Leach and Tony Aylott but haven't heard anything of them in a long time (since Stoneleigh 2005/6 I seem to recall).

This and the other thread begs the question is anyone keeping a register of cars and if so is it available? And before anyone thinks I might be volunteering this is not the sort of thing I am capable of being too disorganised.....

Struan's made registers for all types. Here's one:

Very out of date now, culled from the old site, with as much extra info as I could gather.
I've never had access to club records so plenty of gaps.
One is always conscious of data protection/privacy issues in any case, so registration can only be voluntary.
