X1/9 Collapsible steering wheel boss

For an IVA test I need an X1/9 collapsible steering wheel boss.
They seem to be hard to come by.
Does anyone have one I could buy, borrow or know where I could get one, please?

That looks perfect, but they tend to use a generic photo covering all makes. It does not state collapsible although the photo shows it is.
I ordered a similar one from another company and it was solid not collapsible.
I have another one for a Fiat 124 berlina, but that did not fit the X/19 stalk assembly.... Grrrr.
Hence the panic, I'll try your suggestion, thank you, hope it's not one I've tried!
Any other suggestions gratefully received though......

The ones I have used in the past are cast aluminium with a hole in one side rather than the type shown in that picture. These came from TNT Autotuning as shown in the above link and were shipped from Bulgaria. These ones have however passed IVA at Nottingham without issue as I guess the hole gives them a collapsible element. I have always fitted them in conjunction with a padded centre X1/9 wheel for safety and this has always been accepted. At Gillingham it could be deemed a fail. I have now switched to a truly collapsible Mazda hub and a bespoke column shaft which I think is genuinely IVA proof.

Thank you Craig, yes that is the one I have, cast aluminium with a hole in one side, from Bulgaria. As you say, I fear Gillingham won't like that, even with a fully padded steering wheel.
I've not tried it though, so they might accept it. It does seem to depend on the inspector you get on the day.
I'd be happier with the non-cast type, if I can get one.

How about cutting the "collapsible" section from the aluminium one, face it in a lathe and then bolting on the folded steel collapsible section from a conventional hub. This could then be loaned out to other Hawk Builders going forward for peace of mind.

Or buy a steel collapsible one, cut out the spline section and weld in the x1/9 spline section?

Ah yes, great minds think alike, I had been thinking along the same lines.
The trouble is, when it is for a customer, you are reluctant to remove a safety item after IVA.
Of course the owner is free to do what they like, but you don't want to have to defend actions if someone is injured as a result.
VOSA did face legal action after a cobra replica owner suffered serious neck injuries in an accident due to the lack of a head rest. They were able to defend the action by showing the rest was fitted at the time of the IVA.
Similarly making your own hybrid version from different designs, however well engineered, will not have the same manufacturer guarantee to fall back on.

The answer to that then is fit a column that has a boss available.

Simoni do a boss, one went on Gordon's car, I just haven't got hold of one yet.
People tend to fit them for the test and remove them afterwards to fit more authentic items.
It does effectively invalidate the approval, so needs to be recorded in the build log if you're building for a customer.... and maybe fit a warning sticker like the brake bias one?

Yes I got one from them, but it was not collapsible, despite the picture.
Also 124 boss is not compatible with X1/9 horn ring, with the one I got.

Personally I bought and used this one with a quick release adaptor. It takes the advantage to change easily with both wheels I have!
And Also the horn push works well with that!

At last it's still legal in France for the moment!
But that could change in the future with new MOT! :mad:

It's very convenient as you can remove the wheel when you want to get out the car...more easy for tall people like me!!

It's also a good anti-theft solution when you park the car in the street!
