The best comparison would be between a real Stratos and somsthing like my car a Listerbell with a modern normally aspirated toyota drivetrain. Now that would be interesting, shame its never been done. Someday maybe.

...naah, that's just a cheap laugh, Clarkson's actually a very, very good journalist. He might wind people up, but that's his job, innit!

He's always been a Stratos fan, so if that IS for an upcoming Grand Tour piece, be prepared for lots of new words that basically mean adoration, love and lust. When they had that Hawk on Top Gear some years back, which turned out not to be a very good one for various reasons and wasn't properly representative, he wasn't particularly scathing about it. Nice to see a sense of proportion.

Norm, you're right. Clarkson said the Hawk was only as good/bad as the person that put it together.
