Just browsing around the net and came across this.

We all love an A110 but what is the opinion on this.
The base car is something I know nothing about but seems to be IVA free.

Has it got that MR2/355 body kit stigma or is this OK?

Maybe not for me but post your thoughts

Well, it's much better than this one:

From the front it looks ok, but the doorhandle, b pillar and rear fenders not so in my opinion. I suppose it has to do with the safety structure of the Smart Roadster donor.

Hi Pim,
Yes, I suppose as its using an unmodified chassis they have had to design it around certain features of the base car.
Like to see one in the flesh.
Wonder if they would ever show it at Stoneleigh or would they market it towards the classic car owner?

Oh of course, the Smart Roadster.

I was looking at the side intake and wondering where I'd seen it before?

The John Wheeler MC220 Darrian based A110 replica is still the best.

I think it's great. Falls into the same category as those Ferrari 250-inspired body replacements on a BMW Z3... keeps a lot of the donor hardware on display so not trying to be a replica, just a bit of fun and infinitely better-looking than the donor (which, for what it's worth, I also like).
I seem to remember that when the Smart Roadster/Coupe went out of production, there were a few parties interested in buying the tooling and carrying on with them. And one of them was some guys who'd bought, or were looking to buy, the AC name and market it as the AC Roadster. Wonder if they'd have got round to sticking a 7-litre V8 in it? Maybe in some alternate reality...Haha!

Well it'd get my vote, so long as you changed the name to something less like a tube of sweeties and a bit further away from "Smartarse" ;)

Chris-Any links to info on the Smarto's or is that a project you have kept secret from us!

Norm-You can call it what you want:D
You are also correct about the attempt to restart the project-In 2006, David James (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_James,_Baron_James_of_Blackheath) initiated Project Kimber, an attempt to restart production of the Smart Roadster in the United Kingdom (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom). Initially intended to be rebadged as an MG (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_Motor) model,[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Roadster#cite_note-1) after an unsuccessful bid for the MG marque, the revised Roadster was later referred to as the AC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cars) Ace.[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Roadster#cite_note-2) However, as of 2013, the project appears to be dormant (Nicked of Wikipedia)

I see there's a Banks Smart Europa:

I'm surprised there aren't more 'rebody' ideas for this type of car, now that I've seen one without outer panels, here:
