Hi all
Has anybody done a replica in the Alen/Kivimaki 'Lancia England' colours ? Lombard RAC, 1979 ?
Thanks
Simon

Thank God for that - when I saw "Stratos Theme" I thought you were going to start humming/whistling a tune, or, worse, sing :)

Isnt the Alitalia theme a logo? Anyway what's wrong with logo's ?

Stratos-Si

Nothing wrong with logo's. Had the full Alitalia livery in mind for my LB. However, there seems to be a few in the UK already. Just pondering something a little different.

Yes, Ian Gear's Hawk has no logos:

Off the top of my head, I can think of 12 kit replicas in the later Alitalia livery.
There will be more that people will recall.

So 16.

Are we discounting these ones because of the colour choices?

That last one is the one that sold at Bonhams recently, isn't it? (long time LMC member)
If so, it's mainly white, with a few green bits.
I won't count the non white green red cars.
I've counted that Corse in Japan, because that's definitely the CAE Corse I that I was thinking of.
So 19 up to now?

No other colour scheme comes any where near in numbers?
I can only think of 4 in works (1978) Pirelli colours and 3 in (1975) early Alitalia.

I can only think of 4 Pirelli, 3 Hawks & 1 Corse
I can think of 7 Alitalia early's (although 1 has been resprayed now) 2 Hawks, 3 LB's & 2 Corse (1 in CZ & 1 in JPN).
I can think of 6 or is it 7 Marlboro as well, 1 LB, 1 Allora (Germany), 1 Corse "S" (Mark M), 1 Hawk Gp4 (Iain G), 1 Hawk Giro (Gerry) and the Napiersport Evo if that's allowed.

How many Chequered Flag's 3? 2 x Hawk & 1 x Litton.

Well if I'd been thinking of going the Alitalia route, that collage would be enough to make me reconsider, iconic though it is.
I particularly like the number "22" on the side window in that first pic of Craig's, that's been applied to be horizontal with the window dropped...says it all about inside temps in a Stratos! :)

How many are actually still in the in the UK though? And how many actually appear at the few events where we see more than three replicas is attendance?
The odds on being parked next to two other cars with the same livery are fairly slim, and even then it will probably be from a different event so will have different stickers or a different body style?

Ahem! Though point taken about most having gone abroad. I don't think there was one Alitalia car at Stoneleigh this year.

I actually still think the Alitalia scheme is one of the best, and I'll never knock anyone who goes for it. It just seems a bit too obvious...not so much worrying about being parked next to one exactly the same, more about being a bit more original (if you can apply that term to a replica, or a paint scheme that you're copying :) )

Absolutely. The reason there are so many speaks for itself.

Craig,
All your captions are correct.
The one with John Whalley and the rear panel open, was a newly built Hawk, bound for Japan in 1997.
I seem to remember it had 4 stud Image coffin spoke split rims.

Just one on Gerry's stand John.

The only cars you're probably going to see on display are Paul Hassall's and Struan's.
'Less likely to see Vince's, Ian Gear's and Nico's Alitalia cars?
I think Chris Ellis' car has surfaced lately?

Talking about the one on Gerrys stand, where can you get the safari tyre holder and bullbars, or are there any designs that I can reproduce hanging about?

Vince's has been out and about recently, He's been spotted on Instagram at the Stoner Supercar Sunday a week or so back.

AFAIK there are no designs knocking about for these. David took photos and measurements from parts in Biella on a sister car and had them fabricated in the UK. Gerry may be able to help with the roof mounted carrier though?

Of course it is! I was fooled by the wheels. They look gold in that photo.
And yes, I wasn't thinking about the cars on the manufacturers stands at Stoneleigh, just on the club stand.
In the cars lifetime it isn't going to be parked next to another one a great deal of the time! Worrying about comparison is way down my list of priorities.

The Profili 2 book by Casucci has some good pictures of them. There seem to be 2 different designs, a simpler white one and the commoner black one; I may be wrong. No good pictures of the rear bars though, or the details of the chassis mountings. Dave Hanman would be the person to ask.

Mine? It's the Publimmo car 6 from '79 Monte Carlo, minus the orange and yellow on the wheel arches.
