Hi,
Just joined in good time for the LB monocoque arrival (still a few months away but will soon be here!).
When it does arrive I'll have had an 18 month wait but, as I've had a 35-odd year attraction to the Stratos, another few months won't matter and consider myself very blessed to be able to realise the creation. I sourced a 2000 year GTV for the 3.0 V6 24V engine/gbox unit and have now to get a suitable place to build it as currently the garage is a total motorcycle area.
The build will be GRP4 round arch in Darniche/Mahle 1979 MCR winning livery.

Look forward to interacting with others in the near future as being a life long motorcyclist this is going to be something very different indeed!

Take it easy
Trevor

Hi Trev, welcome to the club. As a fellow motorcyclist/LB builder with limited space, I suggest you commandeer the hallway/lounge/living room to store a few bikes...temporarily, of course ;)

One piece of advice when it comes to driving it, though: don't do like a motorcycling friend of mine did when first trying to drive a car, and try and lean it round a corner. It doesn't work :) ...and you look a proper arse with a panicky expression on your face as you lean hopelessly into the door/the passenger's lap.

Welcome Trevor to the Club and forum, you will find a lot of info to help your build on here, and a lot of advice from like minded people when you need it.

Welcome Trevor. Is there something about Stratos and Bikes? Seem to attract the same geezers every time.

Welcome and good luck for your build
Darniche/Mahe MonteCarlo 1979 is a very good choice and certainly much appreciated by thoses two champs still alive and very active here!

Bernard is often honoured at Retromobile classic-cars show in Paris and in several historic rallies in South of France or In Italy where he is very popular!

Alain Mahé is also the organizer of Rallye du Var every years

Ps notice just a detail their Stratos group 4 was with square arch in 1979 and 1980 ;)

Hi Norm,
Thanks for your concern. I've been 'practicing in my lad's Prodrive Scooby so sort of got it now...:)

I had recent notification that delivery is deferred till August this year but, as we're in the middle of another house move, it makes no odds. Still, very much looking forward to getting started.

All the Best

Hi John,
I reckon there must be.

I saw an Alitalia Stratos at the 1988 (I think) kit car show at Sandown Racecourse and was completely blown away. What a Beast!! I'm very fortunate to be able to do this build (great wife...the money...and the time..:o)
