HI Jerry
How did your rally go? I would be really interested know, this is one best rallies to follow for those who loved the rallying in the 70s.

Hi Martin

We climbed up to 15 o/a after the Welsh leg, but then I ran out of talent on the first long Kielder stage on the Saturday and slipped off into a ditch 1/2 a mile from the end of a 17 miler. Car was undamaged but we didn’t get recovered until late afternoon so we had to take a load of stage maximums and rejoined for the Sunday and Monday.
We had a tidy run to the end and set a few top 10 times but we only finished 36th, silly really, we threw away a good result as the car ran like a sewing machine, but then we can all say we were going quickly until we crashed.
It was a good event though, and the stages were in pretty good condition, especially Wales, but only half the entry finished, which thankfully was still about 70 cars.

Well done Jerry.
Sounds like quite a good result for such a long and demanding rally. I always look forward to this event as it visits the Borders here. unfortunately working this this year so didn't see much of it. A good thing about this event is that cars can rejoin I think? so if you pay a big entry fee you can at least carry on and spectators get more cars to see and follow.
thanks for the update on your event, if you are rallying in the north again you should put it on the forum.

Cheers martin
