Reversing sensors

Anybody fitted them? I don't want a camera system, but a beep to tell me I'm about to hit something I can't see might be useful.
Amazon has kits for £15 upwards, it looks as if the only downside is drilling holes in the rear clam.

You will have to install a minimum of 4 to get decent coverage of the back................I know you don't want to install a camera but I think that this will be more effective. I intend to install a camera which will be liked to a monitor in the same location as the original mirror and be on all the time giving a lot better view than looking through the engine louvres.

I installed a reversing camera on the Vito Van and far better than any reversing sensors in my opinion..........

I fitted some years to my wifes' car, coupled to a little audio/visible display mounted on the dash. Easy to fit, and no drawbacks
My current Polo has camera and sensors, a combination I'll repeat in the future

I've got a rear view camera hooked up to a "smart" rear view mirror. It works pretty well as a manually selectable rear view camera when driving and is excellent as an auto-triggered (by reversing lights) reversing camera.
The camera is mounted in the numberplate light so is almost invisible to the "casual observer"

That's similar to what I'm going for. I've asked Craig to install a smart mirror with the camera mounted on the chassis, looking out through the louvres, so although it won't act as a "reversing camera/sensor" it should stay clean. This particular one also has Bluetooth and an internal speaker so I can do handsfree calling, and a built-in satnav which can operate in "split screen" mode - so half satnav, half camera if I want. It also has other clever stuff I'll likely not use.
When I had my Allora, I used to use the lip of the rear spoiler as a guide to the rearmost part of the car and go off that, which worked fine 30 years ago when I had a neck that could swivel like an owl's...now I'm just an owl git :)

Full screen but works as a normal mirror when switched off. Front facing 'dash cam' too. When you select reverse the view of the camera 'drops' and it adds reversing lines.

I've has the cable split and fitted with a proper waterproof autosport connector to allow it to be split if the rear canaopy is removed form the car.

It's a good size (a lot smaller than some of the others) very bright and very clear. I've mounted the camera in one of Graham's number plate light units.

You can also buy reversing sensors that are fitted to the inside of the bodywork as a long strip. So no need to drill holes.

Re :- using a replacement mirror version, I have been warned against these, particularly in our collective situation, I.E. within Strati', that they can be difficult to see on a bright sunny day (when we get them ).

Anybody yet had any experience in this respect?
