Still interested? … its the best do of the year! Regardless of weather I can guarantee a Lancia present, you know, the one that had to wait for the Stratos to catch up!.

Yes I'll be there, Stratosless. Do I need to bring my own face mask and rubber gloves or is that another event I'm going to!

Go on then, I'll give it a go, if only to make up the numbers. I look at it as one of my responsibilities as chairman... *sigh* ;) :)

If you are coming over with Richard.... I'll get the camera ready for the Strato's dismount.....

I think it's called the "dickey seat" - partly cos it's Richard's car, and partly cos it makes anyone getting out of it look like a kn*b :)

Phil, sorry we shall not be able to make it this year, as we are already pre booked on an "Old Folks" coach trip week end away!!!! So we will have to wait until David J's weekend in sunny Yorkshire to have further intellectual chat with Helen, yourself and everybody else, including Norm.

That's a pretty lame excuse !..lol

Robin, thanks for including me with the general intelligentsia crowd - I'll try my best not to be flummoxed by all the big words, and be on top of all the latest matters of moment, should they arise in conversation. Or I could just stick to form and be the Resident Thicko :-P
Hope the coach trip (is it one of those all-included Shearings things?) goes well and you have fun...don't forget to upset the locals, wherever you end up, and enjoy fighting over the last novelty mug in the Auntie Joan Shop* and generally creating chaos and mayhem :)

* Auntie Joan Shop - one of those places that sell all the cr*p that your Auntie Joan always had spread around her house, e.g. lighthouse barometer/thermometer, plastic seagulls on the wall, bits of old fishing nets, and other "rustic" items...

Norman, you've got it, summed it up in your inimitable amusing style as I would have expected from you, only we do know all the others on the trip already, so that may cramp our style a little.

Hi All

Having spoken to a couple of folks within the club about the current situation that we find ourselves in, from that I have decided to cancel the Garage Day.

Sorry to everyone ... stay safe

Cheers

I fully understand Phil.

I think, strictly speaking, I'm classed as having an underlying (lung) condition.
I didn't fancy the risk, how ever small.

Understandable Phil.
At least I have an excuse not to show up this time.
Plenty of garage time here and no pressure to do anything else! Yippee!

I appreciate you offering to do your Garage Day each year Phil.
So thank you for that, as always.

Maybe we'll have to make a special effort to post photos on here of our car related stuff on the day?

I've got a packet of HobNobs I was gonna take, but in the spirit of Chris' comment above, I'm gonna sit at home and eat them all meself. In one go. May post pics of me being violently sick afterwards.

I don't think the latter part would be compulsory Robin.

I'm sure the odds on it being a brilliant day weather wise have just gone up?

[QUOTE=Longtimefan; "Old Folks" coach trip week end away!!!!

The trip that was going to keep me away on the 4th April, (see post 9) has just been cancelled, so I can now participate in a Virtual Garage Day, and I agree with you Chris re the weather, at least self-isolating will allow us take the Sun uninterrupted.

Haven't bought a copy of the Sun since Hillsborough.

However we have had to reassess that policy this week. We've run out of loo paper here on Merseyside...

Yes it did here for short while Robin.

Ok, virtual Garage Day photos:
This time last year I made a prototype press tool to make some replica period 1981 Tour De Corse rally plates.
Shortly after that, I made a much improved version of the tooling, which still needs a little bit of work.
I've not done anything with it since, but it shouldn't need too much to finish.

And then retreat to the Garage for a while, and get some Chocolate Rice Cakes eaten,

I was determined to win the 'hammer shot', if nothing else Chris.

I have actually started working on it again today. It's a nice distraction.
Chris S's old build table is great, as are the numerous small wood guide blocks that he gave me. 'Ready to screw down to the surface.

Nice to hear you are getting on with it Chris.
Craig shared some pictures of the first LB chassis under construction 10 years ago showing a small table with wooden blocks, so your method is tried and tested.
I saw some photos of a youthful CJ navigating a red mini on the FB Road Rally photos page this morning!

I think the other photo is Caydale Mill ford, where you drive down the beck.
My eldest brother Ken would be driving and Roy would be navigating in his own car.

Roy bought that Mini for £40, then he fitted a Riley Kestrel 1275 engine from a scrap yard.
We got 3 top ten finishes on association championship road rallies with it. ANCC and ANECCC.

Norm more dignity than I could ever manage. Pair of door bars for sale. Just ground off the mounting brackets as I have Bob Hope and No Hope of getting out with them fitted. Im not sure if I can actually get in with a seat fitted I had to actually grab my left leg and adopt some kind of hip displacement yoga position when I eased myself gracefully and sat in Gordon’s. Guess I’ll have to start having slimline tonic.
