I'm looking at making some mudflaps and was wondering a) What material ? and b) what thickness?
I've been looking at solid rubber with no re-inforcing - as this shows when you cut it to shape - and was thinking about 4 or 5mm ?
Any views on this?
I used some nice shiney black 4mm stuff from Demon Tweeks, it's kept its shine for over two years of driving so I'm happy with it.

Thanks Paul - yes I think 4mm is about right and there are different grades of rubber/plastic but it will need to be flexible . I'll check out Demon Tweeks .

MSA spec is 4MM min, there is a company called Kaylan in West Yorkshire they can make pretty much any shape and will mould as well and various colours. Used them on my Sunny when I was rallying, only used one set in 5 yrs apart from ripping one off when reversing!!!

Thanks Steve - I've already got a template so am primarily interested in type of material to use but I'll check out Kaylan anyway.

Petty sure it was two pairs of these.

And I used an old jar to draw a nice radius to cut the corners.

Thanks Paul - they look good and not too expensive.
Realise this is quite an old thread now - just wondered if you had a copy of the template and also what you used to fasten them?
