Wondering if there's more room in an 037 than a Stratos. I would prefer a full tube frame rather than a donor.

Depends on what you mean "more room" but in the cabin there is a little more elbow room. I suspect that there's more headroom too, especially with the double bubble roof. In terms of luggage capacity the Stratos wins hands down. The 037 has none.

If you're serious about an 037 replica then I can highly recommend Mick Covill who makes kits here in the UK. You do need to find a donor Monte Carlo Spider (Or Scorpion) though and it involves a lot of surgery. And it won't be cheap either by the time you've sourced a twin cam, supercharger and the right (ZF?) gearbox.

Here's an eBay listing for the subframes for an 037 to fit to a chassis.

Good luck with it!

Thanks everyone, I new about the Carteroni but not the other. Headroom is a concern for me as I have a long torso.

I don't really care to make it an accurate replica, just an inspiration as I have a Ferrari 360 drive-train that needs a home. Those front & rear frames look slick.

The Carteroni should be good at £100k (200k NZD)......

Sorry to see this a bit late. I am building a 037 recreation, and i also built a Hawk Stratos in the past. There is a lot more head space in the 037 if you don't hve a roll cage. I have a FIA spec roll cage and this limits head space. It depends on how you make the top of the roll cage. Biggest issue is the rol cage part at the top of the door left of my head. Thats the closest. Than tehre is the diagonal one at the right. Maybe if you design that one a bit different there is more room. Heres a picture of me in my project , i am 185m. in length and a top vieuww of the roll cage.
