I'm Keith.
Retired automotive engineer in Nantwich.
I have an order in with Gerry for a Hawk Kit.
I've bought an Alfa GT V6 as a donor for the power unit and I'm now in the process of acquiring the various bits and pieces that don't come with the kit.
I've managed to meet up with Guy and see his wonderful (and legendary) Gp4 Car which has further increased my enthusiasm and made the delivery date for my kit feel like an eternity away.
Any tips and advice on the challenge ahead gratefully received.

Hi Kieth, welcome to the forum. You will find plenty of advice on here, but it does take a bit of searching for some times, and the method of searching takes a little bit of mastering too.

I am an LB owner, but I think John on here, is based in Cheshire, and has a great deal of knowledge on Hawk.

Robin.

Hi Keith, welcome to the gang!

Congrats on ordering a kit - when's it due? Hope you've got an understanding Sig. Other cos they won't be seeing much of you once it arrives....actually, maybe sooner if you've still got the donor to strip and parts to refurb...

As for advice - well, as an auto engineer, you'll have a good idea of what to expect and you'll know that whatever you're doing on the kit, you need to think several steps ahead to be sure you don't adversely impact anything else! But the biggie is that no matter how well you plan, there'll be something that jumps up and bites you on the arse :) Just remember it's supposed to be fun!

Welcome Keith, and thanks Robin but don't give me too much credit for Hawk knowledge! I did a lhd conversion on Frederics car, having had a good look at how Guy went about it, but that's about it.
There will be quite a little cluster in these parts soon then Keith. There is a Corse under construction in Crewe, an Allora approaching completion which will be residing Crewe way too, plus my LB build and my Allora rebuild to follow.
Perhaps we can all have a meet up when allowed.
I'm in Winsford Keith and have a narrowboat at Swanley.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!
This is the first time I have participated in any kind of members forum so forgive my clumsy attempts at communal communication.
My best guess about a delivery date for the kit is December so plenty of time to pick your brains.
John, yes, when we are allowed a Cheshire members' get together would be great. I didn't realise it was still possible to buy an Allora or a Corse kit but maybe I have misunderstood...?
Guy, great to hear you have retired and I'll now feel less guilty about wasting your time when I visit next time.
Cheers, Keith

Both Alloras in question have been around since the 80's Keith. Not new kits. And the Corse in Crewe has been a long term project too. Even my LB is 10 years old as a kit.
December will soon be here and then you'll be busy. As you know plenty of prep to do in the meantime.
You weren't Rolls/Bentley by any chance?
