I'm doing a little background research and wonder if forum members might help..or suggest useful avenues for me to explore please?
My stepson Nick and I are keen to have the late Alitalia livery on our LB (eventually).

We've gone round arch and as a bit of variety, have the option of the roof mounted spare wheel (assuming Craig can construct the bracket!).

So, Chris (Jarvis) kindly identified the 1976 Acropolis Rally cars - round arch, roof mounting, but no 'roo bars as possible contenders.
So far, so good. Using this info https://www.ewrc-results.com/carinfo/96-lancia-stratos/?spz=4813&s=1976#start

There were 3 Alitalia cars
#3 - Waldegard/Thorszelius chassis 1874, reg TO N12661 (retired, oil pipe)
#7 - Pinto/Arnaldo, chassis 1576, reg TO L64137 (retired, half shaft)
#11 - Pregliasco/Mauro chassis 1918, reg TO M54374 (retired, clutch)

So, which one to choose? Of course this won't be a slavish copy, but I would be interested if anyone has any detailed photos of the cars in that rally. (or of the roof wheel mounting bracket used on the Safari cars too ..).

I've done the normal google images and eBay searches so I have some, but the more the merrier!

The #11 has a particularly impressive history as I'm sure many here will know.

I guess the cars had the livery painted and the actual event stickers (and sponsors?) added and removed according to the race, but I'm not sure if the sponsors remained consistent throughout the season. Also the bodywork itself would also be unlikely to remain intact, so replacements are inevitable.

Anyhow, I thought I'd ask and see what response there might be - many thanks, Marcus

One of them is the best rally driver ever, and the other two aren't.

I have suggested Marcus does that livery but now I'm leaning towards car 11 so that one day we can have a display of cars showcasing TOM54374. So far that'd be Vince, Me and Enzo. There are probably a couple of others too!

My vote goes for #3 or #11 for no other reason than that my 1977 Alitalia car is a Pinto / Bernacchini one. :D
Don't think I've ever seen one with a roof mounted spare wheel. That will be cool!!

If you look at the Safari livery Hawk HF next to Guy's (scroll down), it has a replica spare wheel mount:

Did you spot that my car appears twice in those pics Chris?

Don’t do the number 11 car as you will need to get the sledge hammer out to the back end to get the original look!
