Well today was a very special day . I got my V5 yesterday with my new registration number so I rushed out and bought my plates and today managed to dodge the showers and clock up a few miles .

I'll post some separate notes on the New Car registration process. I was holding back in case I ended up with a Q plate - but all the docs were in order.
Initial driving impressions - it's loud with plenty of creaks and squeaks, the steering is stiff (which I knew anyway) and I cant select 5th or 6th gear - so need to fiddle with the selector mechanism again. Also the water temperature seems to settle at just below 100 degrees - as does the oil temperature which is a bit worrying - so need to investigate further.(am wondering if I need to re-position the front number plate - although it is fitted with the standard LB bracket)
But hell it goes fast and on a wet road I can see I might frighten myself. It also attracts a lot of attention (again which I knew anyway)

So looking forward to some nice weather for a longer run.

Bloody L Pete! is that really your car or did you steal some pics from somewhere??

Congrats on reaching the end of the beginning - I know you'll have lots of fun. But, good job they didn't give you a plate with the first two letters "QU" :) :)

Peter that's really great news. It's a brilliant time to get it registered for the road with the summer just around the corner. Please let us know how you get on with your few remaining niggles and I, for one, would be very interested to in the details of the registration process.
Fantastic news!
Cheers.

Thanks all - yes a great feeling after 7 years (would you believe?) - a few teething troubles but nothing too difficult and yes I hope to get to a few Club do's but need to build confidence in the car first.
First jobs - re-position the front number plate and adjust the gear selectors - I will also need to do something about the indicator warning lights which are not very clear (and the self cancelling mechanism).

A massive congratulations Peter! I love the colour and very impressed you've kept your motivation for seven years. I'm two years into my build and although I've enjoyed the vast majority of my time in the garage I will the first to admit it's the most challenging project I've ever undertaken. It's seeing great finished car's like yours that helps keep my motivation high.

Fantastic Peter, congratulations, the car looks great. My indicators haven’t self canceled for a while now, (only just) heard the pin fall out on a drive one day. I’ll sort it one day.
