Hi
I have bought this - just need to work out how to get it back to Skipton!
Anyone know what this might have come from and what i might need to change to swap out my 164 12v and put this in?
Regards
Steve

Simples - car (or van) Skipton to Hull, overnight on the ferry (if P&O are sailing still) to Rotterdam (arrives about 9ish I think) and it's an easy drive from there to the Cologne area. Slam it in the back and return journey catching the overnight ferry back to Hull (that leaves Roterdam about 9pm I think). Otherwise it's a shipping company on a pallet.

The real trick will be getting it through Customs without getting hit for VAT/Duty. Might be worth asking Enzo for an "invoice" if you decide to collect it otherwise there's a risk of loss if a transport company damages it.

Plan 3 might involve driving the Stratos to Cologne, swapping it over there and driving back? Just a thought!

Good luck!

if this engine has the radiator feed pipe at the distributor end, can i modify the engine to match my current 164 12v plumbing, or do I have to modify the car plumbing?

Guy Mayers

You'd need to modify. My 12v engines have two main feeds to the radiator at the cam end but the pictures seem to show only one on the cam end and one on the flywheel end?

If you don't want to move the return flow from the radiator then just take these 3 parts from the old engine and it's done!

That'll fix it easily enough then!

Hi Enzo
All great thanks.
Just figuring out how to revise the piping to both radiator connections on the RHS plus the flow and return to a water cooled base for the oil filter and the heater connection at the gearbox end.

Hi all
I have been looking at the engine from Enzo.
My 12v 6v in a Corse has both pipe connections from the engine to the radiator at the cambelt end of the engine.
The engine from Enzo has a single radiator connection at the cambelt end and steel pipe sitting in the V running to the flywheel end.

I want to remove the component sitting on the top of the water pump that has the steel pipe and fit what looks to be item 9 above.
I would rather not mess with the thermostat and gaskets on my QV engine if I can avoid it.
Does anyone know what that is called and where I might get one.

Thanks
Steve

I think part 9 is a gasket? And I think that the diagram is for a non 164 motor? Maybe a 75?

Right, the water pump has a casting that sits on top of it with an outlet pointing to the right of the cam wheels. On top of that is a sandwich plate with the temperature sensors/senders in it and another casting with an outlet, also pointing right, holding the thermostat.

I suspect that I have these components spare but.... We're moving house in 3 weeks and everything is either packed in storage or still in the garage buried behind stuff packed ready to move. If nobody steps forward I'll probably be able to find it in a month....

Thanks - the bit above 9 then. It appears the one fitted to the Enzo engine has an outlet pipe at the rear that passes though the V under the chrome inlet pipes.
Enzo was sure it was a 164,but maybe you are right that it is something else.
Good luck with your move and I am in no screaming hurry.

Mine will be exactly the same as Ian's photograph. AFAIK all 166 V6's were 24v.
My 12v Cloverleaf has the oil cooler between the block and oil filter as per Ian's pic but I've got the original steel piping in place. It's four more jubilee clips but less flappy rubber looking for something to chafe on!

The 155 V6 had the water rail across the top too. Probably GTV as well?

The 166 Turbo is a 12V, but is kind of an odd duck being a mix of 12V & 24V bits I think. Very rare too.

Where the 2 black hoses on yours connect to the thermostat, I have got the top blanking plug out but not the lower. They are different size hex cutouts and I can't find an allen key to fit the bottom one.
I need to get 2 male inserts to go back in, do you have any idea of thread sizes please?

Hi Steve, it's totally easy to put the original pipe like on the picture and it fits!
