I've just had a mail from Grosvenor Shows who organise the KitCar Show and they are offering clubs attending if they want to take advantage of some available indoor space ( a free stand) in Hall 2 to hold one of our Club cars to advertise our Club and possibly to to recruit new members. There are 13 stands available - each 3 x 3m- and all 70 attending clubs have been invited to apply for a space on a first-come-first -served basis.

Any takers ?

You will of course have to have your car there for the 2 days and with limited opportunity to (re)move your car - Sunday and Monday - before 9am and after 4.30pm.

A good chance to show off your pride and joy - indoors ?

Let me know ASAP and I'll forward details.

Thanks

Peter

And of course, you'll be separated from your buddies on the club stand proper....you and your car could die of loneliness

13No 3x3 stands can't be far off half the Hall?

And next year (if the show happens) there'll be half a dozen less exhibitors who gamble on this offer being repeated to get free space. Punters in kit cars will be charged an entry fee next year, not just passengers.

Bad move IMHO, plenty of club space outside and/or in the cattle sheds which are more suited to getting cars in and out daily.

The end.

Guy, punters in kit cars are already being charged THIS year....£5 for kitcar drivers...

I think this is simply an attempt to fill the "accessories and parts" hall cos they've not got many attending this year. Each spot is only big enough for one car and they won't let anyone start selling anything from them (other than club memberships). But, as said, it doesn't bode too well for the future, and that's one reason why one of our AGM agenda items is to do with future AGM locations (which isn't to say we wouldn't still have a stand at Stoneleigh if available, just not have the AGM there).

Spot on Norm .. That's what the Grosvenor folk said in their letter and , as you say not for trading - apart from memberships.

My view FWIW - In fairness it's a brave attempt to keep the Show going - but if it dies of apathy then I think we'll all be worse off. A shop window dedicated to these home-built cars is a rare thing these days in a sector with technology (electric) that is fast changing. I think we should nurture and preserve it !!

Gaydon?......

World Cup Rally anniversary this year (https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/whats-on/world-cup-rally)

Gaydon - a great venue - this would get my vote ! As a youngster I used to go to the RAF Gaydon open day - when it was a V-bomber base . There were some great low level fly pasts of the huge Victors and Vulcans. (funnily enough I've never been to the motor museum there)

It also has the advantage that it's reasonably central - like Stoneleigh.

I love your avatar.
I am a great fan of American band Kansas and it reminds me of the cover of their 2nd studio album.
