Hi Guys - I've just swum (or should that be surfed ?) back from Cornwall and have been checking out PayPal. (It's been incredibly wet here in the UK over the last few weeks)

So as far as I can ascertain you can order and pay for the calendars through Paypal. This will involve you sending ?16 per calendar to my PayPal account -Peter Cutler@2023 Calendar 492 (no doubt you will all appreciate the significance of the 492) The last 3 digits apparently being essential for the PayPal set-up. If that doesnt work try the PayPal me thing below : (as you have probably gathered I'm not very good at this technical stuff). Please arrange the payments as "Family and Friends " - or PayPal will deduct a 76 pence fee and the Club will only receive ?15.24 p

This charge allows a small profit for the Club and the postage is a standard charge for all members including our relatively few members from overseas. This year we bought 50 calendars because in previous years we have bought more and ended up throwing quite a lot away - so we'll have to see how it goes. If we need more we'll buy more.

On payment I will post out all the calendars as required. Can you please ensure that I get your postal address either as part of your PayPal account details or if you wish to do it separately by e:mail - my address is cutlerpj@aol.com

Thank you - and let the orders commence !

Peter

Pete, on behalf of all members, I just want to say Thanks for once more stepping up to the plate and doing all this. And I don't care what anyone else says, I actually enjoy spotting the mistakes :) :)

For all those who posted on the original calendar thread saying they want one, can you please (re)order as requested by Pete, as above, as he's easily confused trying to keep up with more than one thing at a time and therefore you won't get one. ;)

Cheers!

I saw a copy of the calendar at the NEC when manning the stand.
I am Mr January - so to speak!!
I have ordered 3 copies - one for me and Tree (wife) one for my mum and one for a young lad we met at a show in the summer who is having a hard time but fell in love with a Stratos (we have kept in touch)

Query - as a relative newbie to the delights of PayPal - I find myself in a state of confusion !

So far I have received about 25 orders and have received payment notifications from PayPal - which is obviously good - However I am getting payments of ?16 (which is exactly right) and payments of ?15.24 with the 76 pence difference being charged as a Fee ? Can any one tell me what is going on? If I spend half a day on PayPal I can probably work it out but I wondered if any one can point out something obvious that I have missed. If we can identify the correct method maybe we can cancel the "incorrect" orders and arrange for them to be correctly posted without the fee deduction.

Are there different types of orders - and have I mistakenly posted 2 methods of payment - one of which charges a fee?

Stradale493
24-11-2022, 13:29
As I understand it there are two basic options; one is for sending money to "friends and family" with no fees applied. The other is for sending money to "businesses" and charges the recipient a small fee. When I sent my payment I manually search for you and selected the former (no fee) option.
Not sure what happens to people who click the "link"

Stratos Fear
24-11-2022, 13:41
Thanks Graham - I think you have identified the issue. I have a vague recollection of someone mentioning this once before and had completely forgotten about it. I will amend the instruction on my early post. We are all "Family and Friends" ! . I have 5 orders that have the fee deducted - which I'll leave - but all future orders please please transfer as " Family and Friends." and directed at my account Peter Cutler. I have deleted the link which I think was causing the problem.

Thanks

Actually, on a sticky drag strip, with 14 inch wide ultra-soft slicks, not too hard. They actually spray traction compound (essentially glue) on the whole track, so traction is normally pretty perfect. One notable exception was when the car was new, and I suffered from that problem that can also affect Stratos replicas too - fibreglass doors filling up with water when the car is left out in the rain. On the next hard launch, it found it's way under those slick tyres, and that definitely got my attention! I kept it out of the barrier but it was the snakiest run I ever did. We drilled some drain holes after that...

Calendars arrived today. Great work and thanks.
One problem is you listed my car as a Lister Bell - Mr January (so to speak)
I am sure Craig would not want to be associated with it.
It is in fact a Corse I (of unknown lineage), though John would call it a mongrel.
Happy xmas all

It is in fact a Corse I (of unknown lineage),

It's a Corse I without question, whether it be of the CAE or Napiersport era, so hardly a mongrel.

Very kind of you to say. I was referring to the way the chassis and main tub were "assembled" by various parties at various times!

It is still Corse parts fitted to a Corse chassis irrespective of who fitted them and over what time period.
There are a few kits out there which I think are maybe better described as mongrels but not in a detrimental way. "Hybrids" used to be a more apt term but that has a new meaning nowadays!
Darkspeed's Corse I would be the ideal candidate, a Litton Corse chassis which was initially fitted with Hawk/Transformer body work after Litton's disappearance from the marketplace.
This was then later cut about in a restyling exercise before being sold to Darkspeed who has removed what was left of the Hawk body, replaced that with an LB body set and is now rebuilding/reengineering the rest from the ground up.
Anyway, thread hijack over, back to the calendars.....

Calendar arrived yesterday - thanks. Landscape format is great.

I must say it was a pleasant surprise to see my aging Allora appear for the first time in the calendar - and on on the front cover along with David Jowsey's and the LB ensemble.
I might just leave it unopened all year !!

Maybe one day she will get to be a calendar girl, she's had a tough upbringing and getting named SiD did not help ;) Hybrid, Mongrel, Bitsa, but above all...... Special ;) Plus she's a Q so I don't know if I'm even using the correct pronoun....

Thanks for positive feedback on the calendar format - it turned out pretty well and the other plus point this year is that the paper doesnt have the high-gloss finish that you cant write on !

- and Steve glad to see you spotted this year's deliberate mistake ! It has often been said that I cant tell my Corse from my LB - so in this instance probably correct !!

I mentioned before that Tree (wife) and I met a young lad (age 9) in care at one of the local classic shows in the summer. He was really taken by the Stratos and had lots of photos sitting in it.
We met up with him and a carer in Skipton car park on Sunday and gave him a Stratos calendar for xmas. I took him for a quick spin around the icy car park.
We later got a message that on the way back to his residential home he said "it was the best day out ever" 3 times.

Everyone loves a Stratos, and I hope that it put some joy into his life.

Happy xmas all
