Been offered a donor if anyone is interested - person is asking ?1000 for it, located in Preston.

3.0 litre, 24v, manual.

If anyone interested, let me know and I'll pass on details.

I doubt he will hold on to it for long though.

Potential drivetrain damage? The mud in that O/S wheel shows an understeer off pushing the wheel back and possibly sideways?

Manual box so possibly a great donor car for a new build.

Do check on availability of service parts like waterpump, cambelt tensioner etc as AFAIK, this version of the 24V is not well supported these days, sadly.

Arguably, it’s the most fragile too, given the cambelt wrap.

Were the idler positions revised Chris?

The first iteration of 24V retained the auxiliary shaft driven oil pump, which means the ?rear? exhaust cam has barely 90 degrees of wrap angle, and it?s the slack side, hence they are prone to skipping teeth.

Not the best picture, but this shows the problem:

Just below the far cam you can see the aux pulley.

I can see that now.
Inherited from the 12v, by the looks?

I believe so - certainly looks identical. Wasn't quite so bad with the 12V, but even so, not an ideal design by a long way.

Found these pictures while mooching.

Late 24V:

And an interesting mod to a 12V. Shows that the wrap is slightly less than 90 degrees on a stock setup, hence the occasional issue with the 12V skipping teeth.
