All,

We've been making noises for a while about holding our AGM somewhere other than Stoneleigh. In fact we planned to have a joint event with the Lancia Motor Club in 2020, but the pandemic scuppered that idea, after which we went back to the usual arrangements till things stabilized. Well, things have changed enough of late (new entry fee for kitcars, marquee hire price, and no Stoneleigh show this year) to make us revisit the idea to hold the meeting somewhere a bit more upmarket. So, Events Chap Neil has been talking to the peeps at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon to see if they can do us a package - and they can!

The deal is this: it'll cost those attending ?20 per head (not per car), for which you get tea/coffee on arrival, use of a meeting room, a buffet, and entry into the museum. Now, normal museum entry alone is ?16 if you pay on the day, so an extra ?4 is a bit of a bargain to get fed and watered as well, AND you get the singular pleasure of staring at the Committee and listen to them warble on for an hour or, if you're really lucky, less. The only date we could get was the late May Bank Hol Sunday, which sadly clashes with the Hopetoun House Italian Car Day in South Queensferry, but I'd be surprised if anyone north of the border would be considering making with the motorway for 200-300 miles each way instead....

Details need to be finalised yet, but we'll obviously need an idea of numbers to make sure we've got enough people to make it work. Also, we'll have to work out how you pay and we record that fact, so that only those who've coughed up get to scoff the nosh.

More info as we have it, but I'm hoping we get more than the 20 who came to the 2022 do! If you're up for it, bung your name down on here - doesn't commit you to anything yet, it's just a statement of intent. Or not, cos there's no marquee, haha :) (intent....in tent....oh forget it!)

By the way - this doesn't mean we're giving up on attending kit car shows. If we can, we'll still have a presence at Malvern and/or Newark, but no marquee, cos it was bl**dy expensive to hire last year!

Cheers!

Hi Norm - sounds good . So we are talking Sunday 28th May - which is about 3 weeks after the Coronation . I should be OK for that.

Ummm, I think I'm ok 3 weeks after the Coronation as well. Unless it's really exciting then I might need another week.
