Hi All

I've been admiring these cars since I was a wee boy and finally one came up that I've managed to attain. I am taking delivery on Monday / Tuesday and already have some questions.

I've purchased a Stradale (see pics) but am tempted to change it to GP4, I've spoken with the lovely Lydia at LB Specialist Cars and have all the bits and pieces price wise, has anyone done this and is there anything I should be aware of? Note, I am mechanically dyslexic but have been around cars long enough to know a number of good people for bodywork and mechanicals.

I'm also considering the Nitron dampers & springs, has anyone done the conversion and is there a massive difference? This wouldn't be my "go to" drivers car as I have one of those, this is more a car for a wee blast now and again, don't think I'd be giving it massive beans, again, because I have another car that is more modern and more the way I like to drive - with the added 3-year warranty !

What is the feeling on "non Lancia colours"? Does anyone have a non-Lancia coloured car?

I'm up in Scotland, I am under the impression there are very few of these here but please say hello if you are here, would be good to meet up once I have the car done to my liking.

Best,
M7.

Hello.... all the way from Auchterhouse!!

Good to see someone else local. I imagine we will have a few friends in common.

I'm in and around Dundee and the Ferry a fair bit in my STR. Mine is a full on factory built GP4 Alitilia rally replica and you're more than welcome to come over for a closer nosy if it helps you get an idea of the changes you might want to make when you get your mitts on your own.

Hi Jim!

I'm astounded we've never met one another. I've been mincing aboot the Ferry in a variety of cars for ages, and indeed, we'll know a fair few of the same people. Superb you are literally 15 minutes from me, I'm in BF!

I'll PM you my number and yes, would like to meet up and have a wee chat about the cars.

Best,
M7.

What's the feeling ! - Your car your colour choice

Non Lancia so no Lancia anywhere - I kept some Fiat and Bertone bits though ;)

Nitron - Yep- and go with the turquoise. - Although I could probably only just tell the difference between a good damper and a broken one.

Kenneth,

Welcome to the Club, you will not be disappointed with your car, it has been built with loving care, and I am sure it is set up well.

The suspension geometry settings are critical to the way it drives and your ultimate pleasure in being in it. I have Gaz coilovers on my car which work perfectly on their softest settings and you will find comment somewhere on here (although you will need to be a full member to access it) from others that there is no discernible difference between Gaz and Nitron, but the choice is yours.

As the car is complete I suggest that you drive it for a while first to understand the handling, particularly with the short wheel base and mid engine, as you will find that it handles like no other car that you may have driven, unless you have driven a GoKart in anger. Hard pressure on the loud pedal can easily bring the back round to meet the front, which is part of the fun, but not when there is other traffic around.

Like you I have admired the design and the concept since they burst onto the scene 50 years ago, and decided that one day, one day I would have one, even if it was a replica which I achieved 4 years ago after 4 years of build. Even though I was doing International Rallies before these were developed, the appeal never wavered. They became Iconic immediately, compared with the modified production cars we were using before them.

Enjoy it and we hope that we will see you somewhere when we get together in the future.
