Has anybody got any experience of these jacks?

I came upon them by chance and they seem to be a good solution in terms of portability and storage, where a more "permanent" solution is not feasible.

As far as I can tell they get good reviews, just wondering if anybody has first hand experience? particularly with a Stratos?

Cheers

Gerry has two similar to this in his workshop - they get cars well off the ground to make working on them easy. He doesn't bother with the outriggers on the flat floor of the Stratos or the Cobras. Stops at multiple points but not much use if you needed to fit say an exhaust or propshaft to the Cobra.

Thanks Guy - I've seen this type before and they seem to work well. Unfortunately I need something that is more portable.

Thought some of you might be interested in an update.....well.....I went ahead and purchased a Quickjack. I was fortunate that a demo unit became available so managed to save a few pennies.

So far so good. It does what they say. The jacks are certainly not light (heavy to carry) but fairly easy to manoeuvre around once laid on the floor. The hydraulic power pack is a bit cumbersome but the hoses are long so it is easy to position it where needed and away from the car.

It raises the car to a good, comfortable working height. The only care point is to leave enough room either behind, or in front of, the car (depending on which way round the jacks are) as the jacks move longitudinally as they rise.....if that makes sense.

Dont forget to leave enough space over the top of the car as well as in front/to the rear! Dont want to hit the roof
Blue with yellow wheels - love the colour scheme!

Quite fancy one of these. What's the lifting capacity?

Sorry Leigh can't confirm for sure at the moment but from memory I went for the TL5000 which is 5000lb / 2268kg. Should be more than enough for the STR and seems to lift it quickly and easily

Hi Steve - can't remember the exact lift but the pic is fully extended so hitting the roof isn't an issue.
Glad you like my colour choices 👍 looking forward to getting it back with the body on to see how it will look when finished

Cheers, it no so much the STR it's my other lump of a car - an Aston V8 Vantage (2007). that's about 1.75 tonnes. God knows how, seeing it's an extruded aluminium chassis and a mix of ally and composite bodywork!
