I'm very sad to post that Andy Phillips passed away on Thursday morning.
Those that knew Andy will know that he had been living with and battling Prostate cancer head on for over ten years now.
As a long term member & contributor to the club Andy was in the process of building a rather special & unique Hawk, just search for his build threads.
As a person Andy was one of the good guys, he was a very talented engineer both professionally & personally but above that he was also a modest, humble and genuine person.
His passing is a loss both to the club and everyone that knew him.
Our thoughts are with his wife Carol at this sad & difficult time.

I've just read the post by Ian Ford on SEC Facebook.
Andy was one of the very best people you could hope to meet. I'll miss seeing him.

I still remember the day he came onto the Hawk stand at Stoneleigh, not looking well, and told me that he's been given 6 months. That was so long ago now. He had the right attitude to cancer, a loving, supportive wife and a company who helped him above and beyond. He was an inspiration to all who had the luck know him. He will be missed. RIP Andy.

Sad news indeed, Andy was a true enthusiast for both the Stratos, diving and life in general.
I will always remember him as the thoroughly nice and genuine person he was.
Condolences to his many friends and his wife Carol.
Very sorry to hear this saddest of news.
Only met Andy very few times and all too briefly but I will remember him as a personable and enthusiastic man.
Another reminder if any were needed to get yourselves checked guy's if you have any doubts about your health as per our recent thread on the subject.
RIP Andy.

Life can be crap. He knew it was coming....we knew it was coming....but it's still a punch in the gut to hear he's gone. It's yet more incentive to live life in the moment and make it count. Sad he never got his car finished, but I think he was still having lots of fun with his R8.....only slightly faster than a supercharged 2GR-powered LB, eh Craig?? ;)
We'll all miss him, that's for sure.
A true gentleman, generous with his knowledge and time.
My condolences to his wife Carol, his family, and wide circle of friends
RIP Andy

I was very saddened to read on his wife Carol message today this very bad news with Andy passed away on thurdays after a long fight against metastatic prostate cancer!
It’s a big loss of a friend and a true gentleman I have met several time I was in England and I have some regrets to not visit him as he invited me last time I was going at LB workshop!
I would be happy to see him driving his Aseptogyl Stratos finished!
RIP in paradise with great cars and motorbikes!!
Not news I wanted to hear.
Andy was a good guy. I went over to his place to see his build, he came over to mine in his R8 to see my build. We met at LB and shared numerous email exchanges and mad ideas about Stratos builds. I was always impressed with his pragmatism about his condition. He handled it with amazing dignity and never seemed bitter about the hand he had been dealt. I am not sure I would be able to approach it in the same way.
RIP. I'm glad to have known you Andy.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Met Andy only once and by chance at one of my visits to LB. We chatted as I'd overheard that he'd had a recent procedure and wished him well with his recovery. He replied in a very matter of fact way that his condition was terminal! He seemed a genuinely very friendly guy as others have confirmed and so sad to hear that his condition has taken him too soon from his family and friends.

Condolences to Carol and Family, you can expect something as much as you want & it is still a shock. It will be impossible, thankfully to forget Andy's fantastic smile, what a lovely bloke.
The level of his Stratos is near impossible to match & a huge credit to Andy as he has created something that may well out last us all.
Rest in peace Andy.
Just logged on when I saw this sad news, I did pop up to see Andy a few times and was amazed at the amount of medication he had to take !.... He wanted to build his Hawk Stratos HIS way and was making a great job of it, probably the first car with a sequential box ?... along with other unique parts.
Great bloke who will be missed, condolences go to Carol and his family

I first met Andy at Chatsworth in 2007, he’d never been in a Stratos so I drove him to John Hinchcliffe’s house. We’ve met up at various events since then and have had many conversations regarding his build. I’m so sad I won’t get to see him behind the wheel of his car.
I have so much admiration for the way Andy battled his illness and am extremely grateful to him for taking the time to give me support when I was going through chemo.
Jules and I send our condolences to Carol and the wider family. X

So sad to learn of the terrible news regarding the loss of Andy. We always enjoyed meeting at different events .I remember his hospitality at Silverstone Woodlands when he had the use of a motor home . He took time to show me and Ian around his new R8, which he was proud of . A true smiling warm hearted gentleman of generous and courageous spirit. You will be sadly missed. Condolences to Carol, friends and family . Paul & Ian H x
RIP Andy. Sad news indeed. Many memories from our French rod trip in the early days of his prognosis.

I've had a text from John Hinchliffe today. Unfortunately John can't access the forum at the moment, but wants to add to this thread and echos everything that has already said on here regarding Andy.
John has been very close to the work progress on Andy's Hawk, and has made working visits to help Andy with some aspects of the car's build. John knew Andy as well as, if not better than any of us.

Although I was planning to be there, it's looking like I won't be able to make it after all. I've pulled a muscle or trapped a nerve in my right shoulder and down my back, and although it's improving, I don't think I can drive that distance without some serious discomfort (according to Google Maps, it's about 200 miles and 3.5 hours each way). Went out this afternoon and after about 45 mins it got too much and I had stop, so barring a miracle I won't be there. But I'll be thinking about Andy during the afternoon, and if you could pass my regrets on to Carol I'd be very grateful - cheers!

Carol has recently received the attached images from the funeral directors and has asked that they be shared here.
I understand those concerned were all happy to see the cars in attendance and its good to know that they added something extra to what was a fitting celebration of a very well respected man.
