Hi all,

I have sold my car, it is going to a good home in Germany. Someone who loves the Stratos since youth.
I got the chance to sell it and am going to try and persue my old dream: the Alpine Renault A110.
Next week the car will be collected so i have to say goodby.
Hopefully not to you all, i would love to visit the forum now and then to see how you all are doing.
Cheers to you all in helping me with my build and the good recievings in England.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Pim,

Here's something ugly, but interesting.
With twin triple choke 46 IDA webers! (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3808551.htm)

I can't tell you how many times I have looked at the build on your website. I know how it goes when you want to pursue something else and too many projects...there's only so much time.

That's sad news Pim, your car was quite inspirational for me during my rebuild and I was so glad to see you and your car in the flesh a couple of years ago at the Stoneleigh Kit Car Show.

Keep us up to date with your A110 quest.

Regards,

Vince.

Very similar to mine, but my carbs are 40 IDA. Surely 46 IDA is far too big, especially for a road car.

'Offered in running condition and recently engine serviced though a thorough recommissioning is advised.'
I think that means, run without air filters, rear engined car in dusty conditions, knackered engine.

No not ugly Chris, a fine machine!

Hi Chris , that is an A310, i am looking for an A110 project,

I know Pim, I just thought it was interesting for 'only' £25k?

Here's two A110s
One (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3858656.htm)
Two (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3524589.htm)

Yep, most Alpines start at 40.000 Euro's going upwards, so it is going to be a challenge to find a project that is restorable!.
Last week ther was a rusty chassis in France with the documents for "only" 17.000 Euro's.
The Spain built FASA Alpines are slightly cheaper.

Hi,
after a long test drive Reimund has decided to change the engine,
so the next Stratos is arrived here on my work shop for an heart transplant!
the original engine is gone to heaven after more than 200000 km.
Reimund and i have found a new Alfa 3,0 V6 12 V,
it will be good for the next 200000 Km! i hope,
i love this job and when it's finished also the test drive.

now the engine is back into the engine bay,
and i have modified the cooling system with an electric water-pump!
i hope this helps anti overheating.

12-07-2012, 07:27
Hi Enzo,

Sad to hear the car was overheating :(, honestly i never had any problems with engine temperature. Last year i went to the Eiffel rally those were hot days and i had no problems at all. Mostly temperatures were between 70 and 80 degrees while driving, only when i stopped for traffic lights the car would heat up a bit and the fans started to run. Could the spare wheel be the problem, because that was the last modification i made before i sold the car to Reimund. The spare wheel is very close to the louvres so mayby the hot air can't get out?
Anyway, a new fresh engine is looking good, maybe see you and Reimund at this years Eiffel rally, and hope overheating problems are over, good luck.

Allora#2
12-07-2012, 09:11
Hi Pim,

i think also it was the spare wheel but i am not sure,
but the overheating has probably destroyed the head gasket (it consumed water)
and the electric water-pump is a little help for the cooling system.
Reimund comes to the Eifel Rallye, i hope we all see us there!

Enzo :)

Hi Pim and Enzo.First of all many thanks to Enzo for the quick help fixing my Stratos to rallye-conditions.The spare-wheel was not the problem of the overheating.I did some very fast testdives at a hillclimb section without the sparwheel and the engine
started overheating,so that the gasket of the cylinderhead gone to heaven.Enzo put a electric waterpump in addition so the
Stratos is back on the road again. Will will met at the Eifel-Rallye at Daun(closed to the Nürburgring)27.and 28.July.Hope to meet other stratos-drivers there for a smalltalk-roundup.Bye for now Reimund(Ölmännchen)

Enzo,
you are rapidly becoming "Mr Stratos" in Europe!
How soon before we start to see "Elaborazioni Michelini" stickers on all these cars?

Allora#2
19-07-2012, 10:37
Hi John,

they are available i use them about 3 years! for Fiat Abarth and Lancia you say "Elaborazioni Michelini"
but my sticker says Preparazione! look pictures, but Elaborazioni is also a good choise maybe next time.
time ago i use, just 4 service by Enzo
