What are my chances, be honest with me....
Hi all, new member from Long Island, NY US, long time fan of the Stratos throughout my life. I'm at the point now I have both the space and means to build one. Currently I have an Alfa 164 I am in the process of restoring, however the car is a bit iffy and will need a lot of rust restoration to be solid. The engine is out and I'm building it up now, it will be around 300ish HP when done. I've always admired the Hawk kit from afar, and part of me is just saying I should cull my 164 project and redirect the drivetrain and whatever other parts I can towards building a Stratos.
Turns out thats way harder than it sounds. I contacted LB who immediately emailed me back saying they were 2 years backed up on paid builds and 3 more years on waiting list, so I'm looking at 5 years for a car, and then on top of that they have decided to only offer turnkey minus cars for US export.
I have emailed Hawk as well, and gotten no response. It's weird they have like 3 different websites, so I don't even know if my emails went anywhere. I had emailed them about a year ago as well also to no response. It's my understanding they are clearly still in business from reading posts here, but I just wanted to get an idea of what the kit costs in total, and timeframe possibility. LB would not give me a price as they don't know what their prices will be 5 years out (which is fair and understandable).
Which comes to my question, please be honest with me, what are my chances of getting a kit (I really don't want a built car), and what would you assume is a reasonable timeframe? If anyone knows the kit cost as well (or a way to contact an actual person at Hawk for that) it would be very helpful. At this point my preferences would be LHD Grp4, but if it means getting something sooner, I would take whatever.
Tom
