Question to those involved in the UK Rallying scene in the 70 and 80s
Does the name Mervyn Coxon ring any bells was anyone?
Spoke to him today, he was the butcher in my local town for years but found out today he used to rally Fords, Vauxhalls and even a Porsche at one point. Did a few European events too.

Yes if Im correct he had a white Porsche and I was co driving in Pat Messers 205 GTI. We swapped cars and I did a couple of stages with Mervyn in the Porsche. Peugeot was new in UK then so guessing c 1984

I knew him as the butcher - had no idea of his past rallying exploits!
He declared the Stratos as his all time favourite car and told me not to take mine to his place as he knows 'everything is for sale at the right price'...

Of course I know about Mervyn Coxon! He was a famous rally driver in Great Britain in the 70's and 80's. Many motorsports fans in those days knew his name and followed his performances in Fords, Vauxhalls and even Porsches.
