Micro volume manufacturers o be exempt from ICE ban in UK!

Looks like they are following the EU with an exemption for producers who make less than 1000 vehicles per year. No specific definition yet but good news I think!

Small volume manufacturers don't have the cash to develop the tech previously mandated by the govt. so it had to happen really. Now we need them to wake up to the fact that there's not just electricity that's a solution to "clean" motoring - synthetic fuels will hit them in the face sometime soon, especially when the costs drop. I think they should be looking at replacing fossil fuel with it for all ICE vehicles and putting some dosh into its development.

And, you may disagree, but I don't think net zero is possible. You might get close but those last few percentage points will be impossible/too expensive to implement, and the planet will be able to cope with that (relatively) small amount still being produced....

That's great news for Craig as a supplier of turnkey cars. I don't think it'll affect Gerry, he'll pack up if his laminator retires but that's a while off yet :rolleyes:. What's more likely to kill the industry is a lack of exports caused by tariff increases in US or making registration impossible in the EU.

Latest news is that Trump's put the tariff on hold for 90 days for those countries that didn't impose their own tariffs in response, so a bit of a breathing space for the UK. But who knows what could happen during that time.....!!

Still 25% on cars and car parts....but it could be 0%, -30% or 400% by tomorrow with that orange moron in charge.
