Re: Silverstone 2013 (26-28 July)
Have we a gazebo or tentage of some sort? Has the club funds (and the time) to purchase such? If so, we could head out to the car park where the camper will be parked mob handed and get it in.
Having said that, I won't be there until Saturday this year. So, I would get all of the benefit with none of the work! :D
Re: Silverstone 2013 (26-28 July)
Hi Elliott,
Gazebos will be allowed, no doubt.
A gazebo doesn't provide the same 'hub' for the Stratos club stand in my opinion.
I'm just miffed that it messes up the weekend for the people who do the most work for the club's well being.
It's not just that though, there are quite a few sensible and practical benefits that'll be lost.
Re: Silverstone 2013 (26-28 July)
This ban, along with the "no walk ups" ticket policy seems to me as if Silverstone are trying to position the Classic as another Goodwood. This would be a shame, IMO.
Re: Silverstone 2013 (26-28 July)
For you Group C fans:
One XJR-14 is entered by Nic Minassian. That's the all purple one with a bubble cockpit, like Brundle drove at Le Mans.
'Think he was driving that 905 Peugeot that never made it to the race last year? 'Similar era, is it?
I'm not a group C expert. Ask me about ERAs!

Re: Silverstone 2013 (26-28 July)
A MASSIVE thank you to Martin Santos of Electrical Car Services, Rayleigh, Essex who went far beyond what could be expected from a company.
Yesterday, I took my Hawk out for a pre Silverstone run. After a few miles, the indicators stopped working, as did the near side headlamp lift motor. Not being an auto electrician, I called Hawk Cars for some advice. They immediately gave me Martin's number as he does the wiring looms for their builds.
I gave him a call to see if he could help. What he did was more than admirable and deserves enormous credit and a public pat on the back. He diagnosed the probable cause of the problem - a faulty hazard warning connection. I told him that I needed to get to Silverstone on Friday for the Classic. Martin then said that although he was extremely busy and a man down at work, he would drive from Essex to me in North London after hours to sort it out. Even when I told him that I had to attend a family celebration and that I wouldn't be there, he said he would sort it out.
And he did. He didn't even leave Essex for the fifty mile drive to my place until 8pm and he worked until 11pm sorting out both the electrical problem and the headlamp issue. And for all of that he charged me only £90. Don't forget that he didn't know me from Adam.
So, now I can take my car to Silverstone for the fifth year running. Without Martin, I would have not got it done.
Here's his company's website:

If you want service above and beyond the norm, Martin is the man.

We all seem a little busy today, mine a little earlier in illustrious company (JW's Hawk - with Delta Evo 4 pot, Dealer Edition 16V, and 8:32 Thema) finishing off the wiring for the heated screen, which is awaiting fitting. Drove the 8:32 few days before, nice noise and LOADS of torque, any gear, any speed - just gets up and GOESSSSSS
