Intensive Care doctor - I have several of these sort of things to look after:
ETA: this is not one of my patients but a picture that has already been published in the national media with the patient's identity, which I have removed.
I think there has been a drift in the club over the last decade towards more professional engineering backgrounds rather than the amateur tinkerer that used to be the case. Perhaps this is the case over the "kit car" scene generally?
I take these apart..........then spend a long putting them back together again:confused:
That's a huge responsibility. You have my deepest respect and admiration.
No idea Chris - I certainly don't have an engineering background but a healthy dollop of common sense, being adept with my hands and an willingness to learn has got me from a nobody volunteer to part of a team helping rebuild and maintain these old timers (a good number are now over 100 years old). I've taken a similar approach to building the car; listening to advice offered, reading up on the basic fundamentals and making my own decisions (some good, some less so) and have nearly got there. If anything I suspect that there are less engineering based people around now as the industries which required them are (or have) dwindled. This doesn't really imply that most people taking up building a kit car haven't got those skills already available to them.
Retired senior police officer, I used to do things like this
