I have just removed the gearknob from the car, it is the Beta S1 type. I believe the thread to be M10 x 1 (fine thread)
It has metal thread insert for wood as shown below.

I forgot to add the thread insert is recessed well into the gearknob by a good 1.5” to 2”

Maybe the measurements are to the start of the outer diameter radius?....that would make sense.

The 74mm is the length of the flat part on the side, but it's on a slant, don't pay much attention to that.Quote:
