Update: I was expecting to announce the purchase of a new tent and (less bouncy castle style) mattress. However, Jane and I had a wobbly moment yesterday and accidentally ordered a Motor Home. It should be ready just in time for Silverstone. Just need to arrange the installation of a tow bar!
What have we done?

I've got a new, hopefully less leaky tent for this year. Last time the "bouncy castle type" air mattress was floating when I got back to it. Fortunately everything sat on top of it was dry.

Re: SILVERSTONE CLASSIC 2015 24/25/26 JULY 25th ANNIVERSARY SEC DISPLAY AREA
It will be POSH camping now Jeff, we shall have to spread ourselves out more to get us all in, we shall try for the same spot as last year, Blue badge sometimes works wonders , see you there

Re: SILVERSTONE CLASSIC 2015 24/25/26 JULY 25th ANNIVERSARY SEC DISPLAY AREA
I suspect that the primary difference will be the reduction in "ad lib" comments across the grass from our colleagues. At least there will not be a book running on how long it'll take me to erect the tent. However I suspect that we be spending the whole weekend drawing up a list of all the things that we forgot to bring, with the associated humor that will entail :)

you just need everything small to fit in the draws 7 cupboards, unless your motorhome is one of the deluxe editions

Should I be asking about suitable liveries for the new vehicle? Or perhaps I should be considering an alternative one for the Strat?

Why not Jeff?;)
By the way, I forgot the Kadett GTE and the ex works group B RX7. 'Think there might be a Lotus Cortina too?
Anyhow, a very established and successful company, Swift. Obviously doing something right?

My spare half ticket is now accounted for. Thanks Mel. Anyone needing a lift to/from the campsite can queue at the passenger door (that's the right hand one nowadays...) First come first served each day!

It's the Lancia Motor Club AGM, this weekend at the Stratford Manor Q Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon.
Not sure if it's open to non LMC members though I doubt anyone would be turned away! I've been a member since 1984, going down in the morning.

Re: SILVERSTONE CLASSIC 2015 24/25/26 JULY 25th ANNIVERSARY SEC DISPLAY AREA
Ok, on behalf of Ken, here is the official car club areas map for the 2015 Silverstone Classic.
The area for the Stratos Enthusiasts Club is BLUE 2. I've marked this with the word 'Stratos' and a blue arrow.
This is on the inside of the circuit at Copse corner.
Entry to the circuit for all car club cars will be West Entrance 3, for anyone old enough to remember, this used to be the original main entrance to Silverstone. (marked Gate 1)
So after you have turned left off the A43, it is one turn left before where we have turned in on previous years. (It does bring you directly to where your tickets used to be checked in previous years though.)
You'll then be directed to turn 90 left to follow the road on the outside of the circuit, all the way to Copse Tunnel. (marked T). Can you confirm that Ken?

Actually it is business as usual, so ignore the above:
The very dark blue areas 1 and 2, are indeed for some of the race cars.

Sadly, no guy's.
In the middle of fitting a Laminova (which gets here tomorrow), and also have taken the opportunity to get the Alitalia livery on while I can't do road miles.
8 hours masking already, and I'm only half way there! Gave up with the vinyl. What a pig of a job.

I lied. Way too much rain on Friday and with the same forecast for Sunday Jane and I bailed out from the camp site Saturday evening before everything disappeared under a sea of mud. :(
It did also mean we avoided those awful queues to get away so there was an up side. The British "Summer" strikes again.
Great catching up with everyone. See you all again soon.

Re: SILVERSTONE CLASSIC 2015 24/25/26 JULY 25th ANNIVERSARY SEC DISPLAY AREA
Home a day early thanks to the lousy British weather, a real shame, one of us must be a rain god with clouds following them around. Might be me as it rained here most of the day.... Still, a great day on Saturday and great company Friday and Saturday! I'd just like to say thanks once again to Ken for organising the weekend and a special thank you to John & Carol, Jeff & Jane and Ian and Jayne for the hospitality in the evenings, breakfast etc etc! It could have been a right miserable weekend without you lot!
So, before anyone else posts the story of my weekend....
Good run down on the Thursday night, only 3 1/2 hours to cover the 160 miles, thank you M6 and M42 traffic... Arrived about 7.30, set up the new tent which was a huge improvement on the last one and stayed dry all weekend. Which is more than can be said for the Stratos. Both footwells were almost full on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. It was so bad I had to bail it out at the show and then dry it with a very absorbent towel I bought at the show. Apparently there are pictures of me wringing it out...
The waterproof shoes I'd brought weren't so late on Friday afternoon I decided to pop in Buckingham (where my sister used to live) and get some new ones from a shoe shop in town..... Parked up in the local car park, got out and realised I'd put it across 2 bays so decided I'd better get back in and move it (in case they have a Facebook page like we have here - "parking like a twat in Liverpool") so cut out switch on, key in the ignition and nothing. Panic. Try it again. Nothing. Oh well, I've got the AA card. Off to buy the shoes but they had nothing except a recommendation to a farmers shop just outside town. Back to the car (thinking I might have a ticket for not paying & displaying just to complete the day) and same routine, cut off to on, key in the ignition and nothing. Then it hit me. 23 years of using the key to start it and now there's a push start button on the dash. D'oh. Found the farmers shop and bought some new wellies and thick, warm socks! Heaven!
See you all next year!
Guy
