Long way from anywhere else I think..
Guy
True - we'll be near the Slowly Sideways crowd so that should be a positive!
Ticket for the car landed today. Stand confirmed as yellow 14.
Guy
Mine arrived too
Car ticket arrived, camping etc coming later?
I've had my camping tickets for a while. Probably 6 months?
Guy
Tickets are on the confirmation email, so all sorted
A few questions about the coming weekend
How many have booked to stay on site?
Who is going Friday?
Is there an ideal place to pitch the tent or an area that could be agreed on to meet up a common camping area?
If you are only in your Stratos do you leave it in the display area at night or drive it back to the camping area?
Thanks Paul
I'm planning on arriving on Thursday about 3 - 4pm. I try to find a pitch in the Southern end of the campsite, on the left side as you drive in about 100 yards from the shower blocks, preferably by a fence but not too much of an issue. I'd recommend that you bring something to rope off the "parking space" next to your tent otherwise someone will nick it to pitch theirs!
I've never left the car on the stand overnight, always bring it back to the campsite. It's somewhere to lock valuables up overnight or when you're going back into Silverstone for the music/entertainment.
Cheers
Guy
Thanks for the info Guy, I should be able to get there at a similar time if I go straight from work.
Point taken on the roping off, I'll give you a call on the day.
Paul
Hi Paul
In answer to your questions, i and many club members leave their cars on site with no problems
If turn to the first page and look at whos going you will see whos going on Friday
There is a shuttle that gos around the camp site and stops at the circuit gate where you can hop the circuit bus
Hi
Can anyone let me know where the Club Stand is to be situated. Working up there Sat/Sun so hoping to get some time off to meet up with you all.
Regards
Steve
Hi Steve,
We are situated in Yellow 14. This is close to the main entrance although we have to use entrance 10.
Look forward to seeing you.
Best regards, Paul
So that's off the roundabout at the very bottom (south) end of the dual carriageway road that runs past the circuit.
As you peel off the roundabout, the public car parks will go left (onto the loose surface), and the car clubs will go right onto the tarmac perimeter road, at the back of the club corner outer grandstands.
You'll see the 'sticky up bit' of the Silverstone Wing from the roundabout.
I have unfortunately made the hard decision not to take the car to Silverstone this weekend on a trailer...............I apologise to all that I stated it would be there...........:(:(:(
Over the last months I have made excellent progress on the build. I have been helped by John Hinchliffe who has come down on several weekends and also the team at LB Specialist Cars, Craig and Lydia who have helped with numerous items. Not enough effort on my side at the beginning of the year and then tried to complete everything in the last couple of months.......................
I will still be there myself over the weekend as it is a great event..................
To me, trailering always looks like hard work, and you are supposed to be enjoying yourself Andy?
I would have liked to have seen the car in the flesh, but will do one day.
Thanks Paul, situated in the National pits so looking at the map it's only a short walk over. Looking forward to seeing you all!!!
Have a great weekend everyone! Looks like the weather is going to be good to you?!
I did have a great weekend John, thanks.
The weather was hot on Friday, very wet on Saturday morning, and then (would you believe it?) fairly cold from then on.
Many thanks to Ken for putting the SEC stand together as ever, including the much needed 'event shelter'.
I'll put some photos on later, when I get organised.
I came back home from Silverstone on Sunday evening, to find the power had been off since Sat. morning, and has only just been back on at lunchtime today (Tues.).
I hardly ever go away, and it picks that one time to go wrong!?
Apologies Guy, and everyone else. Seems I put the mockers on the weather! Don't know which forecast I saw! Maybe the one for the week before?!
Had a great day on Saturday despite the morning rain. Very heavy when we left home but was much lighter at Silverstone.
A wet track always make for good spectating.
Thanks to Ken/family and Paul (and any others) for putting up the much needed shelter/wind break.
Good turn out of cars on Saturday, so well done to everybody for braving the weather. And for some strange reason my car didn't fill up with water during the day.... usually does.
One or two photos from the Silverstone Classic this year:
The Lancia Aprilia van is a bit of a sleeper, with a more modern Fulvia V4 engine.
