Well a big thank you again to Bernard for a very pleasant open day. Good hospitality, good company, good food and good weather. What more could you ask for.
Nice to meet a few new friends and also see a few 'old' ones again. I must return the favour when I get close to finishing my build.
Mick & Chris.
I glad someone took a photo.
Thanks from me too, to Phil, Helen, Carol for the coffee, and cake, and more cake, oh, and Rene for the 'Stratos' chocolate.
'Saw some good double takes as we followed the two Pirellis in tandem to Sherwood Restorations.
Another big thank you to Phil, Helen and Carol for the refreshments. The weather stayed fine and a good chin wagg was had by all.
Sherwood Restoration, I will take the TR8, however a bit pricey at £55,000.
We saw Guy again, filling up with fuel he passed us just before M62 turn off.
David
Excellent time was had by all and a really good garage day, well done...........................thanks to Phil, Helen & Carol for keeping all watered and fed. All being well should be a summer garage day down at my place, as soon as I get the engine and gearbox in the car.
TomTom predicted I'd arrive home at 6.20. How do they get it right? Car safely parked away now, it may get to a show next weekend (unlikely as shoulder is giving real stick again) and then Stoneleigh in May before it comes off the road again for a while when we'll fix the corrosion in the chassis and give the car a good overhaul over Summer, I guess after 21 years on the road it deserves a little attention!
I got a little rain between Leeds and Manchester but not bad after that!
Great to see another Pirelli car! Amazingly enough I never saw it when Denys had it.
Nice to see some old and new faces and happy to help Peter with his Beta! He spotted a series 1 horn push I picked up at an auto jumble last May for the little badge in it and had the brittle plastic surround donated to his cause! Great!
Thanks to Phil & Helen for the hospitality and also everyone responsible for the food and chocolate! Yum!
Guy
Hi
Just to add my thanks to Phil & Helen for their hospitality. It was great to put names to faces, have a decent chat and look at the cars. That is my sort of garage, must make mental note for next house.....
Lastly thanks to Guy, never expected to find a part for my Beta lurking in his boot....
Looking at the weather this morning, the correct day was chosen.
Peter
Glad you all had a good time and as Mick says... good to catch up with old face's and good to meet new ones... all in all about 20 folks turned up and the weather was kind to us...... i doubt he will read this but thanks to my old school mate Dave who took my other mate Ian out in his well prepared Eaton Yale Mk2 Escort I know he really enjoyed it !!
Thanks to Rene for sending the chocolate bars all the way from Norway, to everyone who bought more cake, doughnuts, biscuits etc...... and finally thanks to my partner Helen who never stopped making tea and coffee and serving up cake....
Great day thanks
Phil
It was good to see Ian, Phil. I never got an update after benefitting from his misfortune (Cornbury) last year.
While I'm on, what is it with Richard in the Pirelli car? I can't believe how much stuff he knows about old cars at his age.
Richard, are you sure you're not someone from the late 60s, reincarnated?
Yes thanks yo Helen and yourself Phil for a great day sorry I missed out on the Restoration visit, but parts to collect.
Guy thanks for your input, still trembleing with the drill....lol
You're not the first person to have asked that question... I guess I've just become a sad old git already! I guess I've always been around old cars, admittedly usually British ones, and it's in the blood a bit too, so that always helps.
To echo everyone else's comments, many thanks for making it a fantastic day. It was great to finally meet all of you and I look forward to seeing you all again soon! Was good to have two Pirelli cars together too, and yes, I too spotted quite a few double takes as we convoyed to Sherwood Restorations! I'd quite like the works replica Healey 3000, please - if anyone has £65,000!
Cheers
Richard
Thank you Phil & Helen for a fantastic day, seeing new faces, lovely cars to see in your garage Phil, The restoration visit was the icing on the cake to round off a fantasic day.
Thanks
John & carol
