Very good work:)
That looks fantastic, I am hopeless at painting most things, let alone by hand... on louvers ! Great to see a Stratos back in your garage.
Fantastic work Chris
Thanks all,
When I saw the photo above, I thought "who's that old bloke putting stickers on Phil's car?" Then I realised it's me!
Front wheel arch tops, door rally squares and "homage" sticker on rear louvre....... just 2 more stickers which are in the post from CJ and that will be it..!
Then to finish.....Rally dash, suspension and steering reset, red wheels..... job done !Attachment 21894Attachment 21895
Looks great, but just one more thing you may have forgotten, Phil - registration...? :) :) :)
Great work from Chris though. If he's that good with the warpaint, maybe apply a bit of makeup to himself to try and look younger so he doesn't freak out at pics of himself? ;) (although, I have exactly the same problem - "who's that bald fat git in that photo...")
I'm delighted because Phil is, Ade.
The sticker application and painting is the easy bit. There's a lot of hours of research and drawing up of new artwork. I'd never seen this colour scheme before, so it's a wonder Phil found anything at all that we could use as reference. He did though. The only sticker that I'd already drawn up before, was the silver GRIFONE stickers for Ken Tomblin's University Motors replica car (the ROTHMANS one). But even that didn't have the Grifone shield crest logo on it, so that was to draw up too.
Hi Ade
Yes really pleased now it is nearly all coming together... won't be too long now.
Having watched CJ painting the louvres and fitting the sun visor strip, he certainly has patience and a lot of skill.
CJ made ALL the stickers for the car.. I fitted most of them but when it came to the stickers on the front wheel arch tops my skill level hit the rocks !!.... I completely buggered one of the stickers trying to go around the compound curves of the body... so I had to get them remade locally by ar signs at Cotgrave who then fitted them.... mind you Josh the guy who did the job struggled a bit and said that they were awkward !
