You been riding the clutch Chris?
Ouch. Recall one standard clutch plate failing in my Strat before.
Was told afterwards that one mod for competition use has been to remove the standard rivets from the friction material, bond the panels to the plate with epoxy then refit new rivets. Not something I've tried, but would probably have avoided the problem when I had it.
A better clutch in the first place is probably the best answer. Paddle unit maybe?

How does it steer with the 7" rims on the front?
Does it feel any different, or better?
Not noticeably different Chris, but the sticky tyres might counter any change to narrower wheels. Tyres still 205 on front.
