Transporters and support vehicles
I thought I would start a specific thread for transporters and support vehicles. Did we ever cover these on the old forum?
Have a look in your own Stratos photos and look in the background...see anything good....post it here.
Thanks for posting transporter pics on the other thread,it has made me start sorting out the pictures on my computer.:D
Here is the first few,got some more somewhere.

Re: Transporters and support vehicles
Nice one Tom - I'll try and remember the place I spooted a very unusual Series 1 Beta Saloon. I spoke to the chairman of the LMC a while back, Andy Collins, who is a real Beta nut about it. He'd never heard of one - a hatchback Saloon. All the others had boot lids but this one was done properly!
I wonder if the club coffers would stretch to an old Italian truck?

An old service truck would be cool for the shows :)
I have come across a few old transporters on my travels with work but most have been in pretty poor condition and have sold for silly money. The restoration costs for them are huge.
Heres the Chardonnet service van.

Not a transporter but the Police!
Re: Transporters and support vehicles
Brilliant photos Tom.
'Love the old factory/workshop building, and the support cars lined up outside.
Vince,
I could have done with these photos a while back?!
Re: Transporters and support vehicles
'Notice the rear wheel and wheel arch combination on the Chardonnet photo above.
Could you bring yourself to bolt a roof rack to this?

That would be criminal! It's probably the last one in RHD! Find a restoration case in Italy and put a hatchback in it whilst you're at it!

It's in amazing condition. 'Talk about a charmed life?
I wonder if the hatchback special has some HPE tailgate furniture in its construction?

Re: Transporters and support vehicles
Good finds but I think the Beta support vehicles were the earlier series, the rear windows have a curved bottom edge and there's also the tailgate to be fabricated!

Re: Transporters and support vehicles
I see a chevy conversion van in the first pic, that's pretty funny......prob. 500 dollars here.
Re: Transporters and support vehicles
And here is mine, currently building a long wheel base Transit (twin rear wheel version)

Do we know for certain that all the early service Betas (I'm thinking 1974-5) were modified in this way?
Re: Transporters and support vehicles
Well I'm not going to put head on the block and say they were..... Trouble is, there's not many pics of them and not all of them have the hatch open. Understandably most photographers concentrate on the Stratos!

Munari - nicked for speeding between stages.
Okay, I'll start this off with the obvious - and the copper is saying "Who do you think you are Stirling Bloody Moss"

Re: Transporters and support vehicles
I don't know much Italian, and I guess it would be easy to put it into Google translate, but I'm having too much fun imagining that "...una bella paternale" is casting some doubt on the paternity status of the copper....!
