Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Attachment 15199Attachment 15198Attachment 15197
I will assume that people who are reading this advert know all about the original Lancia Stratos and its replica’s so I won’t insult your intelligence regarding the history of this iconic rally car.
I purchased this Hawk HF3000 fully built car in April 2012 from club member Alan Dillamore.
At the time the car was powered by a 3000 V6 12V Alfa engine with a 5-speed gearbox operated by the Hawk linkage system. It had 4 stud wheels and Stradale body with an original colour of Dark Blue with Black roof and tail spoilers and Gold Compomotive wheels.
The car today is presented as a Group 4 with a colour scheme tribute to the ERC team of Filipi / de Mela, who competed in the Italian 1982 Cascina Terme Rally and was originally sponsored by Olympus and Jensen HiFi. The paint was applied by Paint Perfect of Lincoln and the decals by club member Rob Sanderson.
The car is powered by a 3000 V6 24V Alfa Romeo engine with a 6-speed gearbox taken from an Alfa 166. The donor car had covered approximately 50k miles. (I have since put approx. 10k on the clock.)
It has completed several European and UK cars tours and also competed on the 2014 Tour Britannia resulting in 7th o/all and 1st in class and 3 equal fastest stage times.
The car now has 5 Stud wheels fitted with Hawk Group 4 Campagnolo replica coffin spokes together with Group 4-wheel arches, rally lamp pods housing 6 lights.

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Nice spec Phil.
It did look and sound impressive on the Tour.
Not exactly relevant to the thread, but where did you mount the Davis Craig?

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Well Phil, I think the car's desirability can only be increased by the "Phil Dolby" and "Helen Dolby" stickers on the doors. Who could resist??
Also, maybe you should amend your ad so that instead of "No joyriders", it says "No joyriders over 5' 3" cos you won't fit with the seats where they currently are", as I discovered to my cost a couple of years ago on the 2017 Northern Run....my knees and lower extremities have never been the same since.... :)
Kidding aside, I can't see it hanging around long, especially at that price. Good luck with the sale! (and I assume you won't be turning up at the Run on Saturday in it now....awww, shame!)

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Absolute bargain! If I was not building my stradale I would bite your hand off! Reckon it will be gone within the week. Good luck.

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Phil,
Still very interested in the car...
I am working with a logistical transport company and am currently awaiting a reply in regard to the transport of the car to the U.S. Once I can get an idea of what I'm looking at, I'll drop you a line. On a side note, I just finished a little project of my own. 1979 Fiat X1/9. Car has been re-powered with a GM 2.2 Ecotec that is now turbocharged. Three years in the making. I like to think of it as my little Stratos!
I'll be in touch.

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
That's nicely done.
What a great little car?

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Neat installation. You can see why X19s are starting to be valued more for what they are rather than just as donors!
Good luck with the freight negotiations.

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
A great project and very neatly executed - well done!

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Upwards and onwards?................. yep Onwards and upwards !
I was lucky enough to have lots of interest from all over Europe and even 4 guy's from the USA...... I suspect about 28+ contacts with about 6 being really serious and asking lots of questions.
If any of our French members would be kind enough to let me have their email addresses I will put them in touch with the new owner Sylvain whom I hope will join the club, thanks in advance
Phil

Yes, I thought I'd got that the wrong way round?
Interest is high then? The weak pound doesn't do any harm too.

Hi Frederic

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Well all monies have been transferred as promised and next Thursday (19th) I will be taking Nellie on the trailer to Calais via the channel tunnel where the new owner Sylvain will pick her up.... bit of a sad time as Helen and I have had some great trips both in the UK and Europe, then competing on the Tour Britannia... so she will be missed.... (pass the tissue's !)
Also on the way down I will pick up that bl**dy gearbox from Sudbury !!!.................. also need to pick a Wheel from Jeff (in Sussex ?) but that may have to wait for another time !
Cheers
Phil

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
Coincidences !
Whilst taking Nellie to Calais on Thursday afternoon, an Irish chap came up whilst I was waiting for my crossing and started talking about Nellie and how he used to Navigate for someone who used to rally them many years ago… in fact he said “I was with him yesterday”….. ok I said “what’s his name ?”……. “Billy Coleman” he said…. “have you heard of him?” he enquired…. You can imagine how the conversation went from there…
Half an hour later whilst still waiting for my now delayed crossing another chap came over and began to chat away with me…. Turns out he was a rally man who had a Mk2 Escort 2.5JRE and the last Metro 6R4… he also knew David Appleby who did a lot of the development work on the 6R4 with Tony Pond…. I also know David as he crewed Jerry Bailey’s Aston Martin Rally GT on Tour Britannia a few years ago.
By now it was my time to move off to the next stage of the queuing process… I parked up in line and after 5 minutes the lane to the left of me started filling up… then directly along side me pulled up a very excited Belgian chap saying that he had just bought a white Strato’s with Red and Green stripes !!..... unfortunately I did not have time to talk to him too much as my lane started to move so I had to go !
On the way home whilst queuing and stopping for fuel and something to eat….. not one person spoke to the guy with the empty trailer………..
Yours Sincerely
A grief stricken Phil…..sob !

Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
This all goes to prove that all most people care about is looks. If you're just a bloke with a trailer you're Philly-No-Mates, but if you've got something out of the ordinary, they're all over ya. We on here, however, know better, and we'll always make time to be friends with a fella with a trailer...you never know when he'll come in handy for transporting yer Strat about (ahem) :)
Wonder if that Belgian guy has just bought Nigel Wilkinson's old car, currently on the Car & Classic website? That's white with red and green stripes...the seller did email me about advertising it on here and I told him to go ahead, although he'd have to register, but it never showed up so maybe it was a bit too complicated or summat.
Anyway Phil, sad day to see the old warhorse go (the car, not Helen), but you made a few friends! :) :)
-
Re: Hawk HF3000 for sale (Nellie)
I knew I could rely on you Normy...!!
I assume it was Nigel's old car but I didn't have time to talk to him and his trailer was a covered outfit.... I don't know of another white Strato's withe red and green stripe down the side and red wheels for sale ??
anyway whichever one it is the tow car had Belgian plates
