Gulp!!!!!!
It's a gorgeous thing!
It's nice, but not a patch on the yellow one that's also on Car & Classic :) :)
I was going to say that these LB STRs are like busses.. but there are no busses for sale there! :D
Very nice. But whats going on with the wing mirrors?
There will also be a very nice blue one on the same auction site shortly - none for months / years then 3 all at once !
Torch them all to get the insurance money.
Win for the owners and win for all the rest of us to keep prices high
The third bus...
or was it the first?
- yeah - it looks so good I think I might keep it ! (I might have to if it doesnt sell )
No one knows the reserve price that you've set until the bidding meets or exceeds that value. No sale no fee. If you agree a sale then it's 6% plus VAT plus ?250 for the photography. If you dont get the price you want at the end of the auction that is the end of the story - although the auction house will subsequently try to negotiate a compromise deal if the final bid is withing striking distance of your reserve,
I notice that Bonhams now own 'The Market'. I wonder what the success rate is with those on-line auctions?
I'm sure that Car & Classic already had a lot of 'traffic' before it started doing auctions, so it's a very good place to advertise.
It's the first place I'd look.
The Collecting Cars auctions have a bit of a reputation for Traders putting some cars through the site which have maybe hung around the showrooms for a while or which have a patchy history so they can move them on without liability or warranty. There?s also real pressure on sellers at times to reduce the reserve during the auction to secure a sale.
I?ve gone to a few auctions for things other than cars and any time I?ve ended up as highest bidder I?ve always come away knowing I?d done quite well out of it. Don?t think I?d be brave enough for an auction as a seller tho :D
There are undoubtedly some good bargains to be had at Auctions provided you know the market - but the benefit of this C&C type auction is that you dont have to sell unless its a "no reserve" auction. If it doesnt reach your required price then it doesnt cost anything and you can slink away unobserved into the shadows - maybe for another go later on!
Thanks Chris for sharing the first 'tentative' ad, which doesn't contain much detail or even any proper interior/engine bay/front end pics!
The car passed IVA yesterday without major issue and the registration docs have now been sent off. I'll be sorting a proper advert for the car very soon. I've done 150 or so trouble free miles so far and the car is bedding in beautifully.

Looks fab but obviously needs more decals.
Hell, even the bus has decals on the side and a number!!
;)
Well done for turning out another great car,
still the same big grin for strat number 2 pass :)
Finally, Richard receives his "Stratosser Supreme" certificate, even tho we were all aware of his status already ;)
Can't help but notice that the fog light is about 1mm too close to the tail light, though. Dunno how it passed :) :)
Good effort! very tempting car, someone should be biting your hand off soon, notice they haven't managed to get that bus through iva yet, wonder if they are charging for storage;)
Well done Richard...... Very "saleable" colours. Good luck !
Did the Bus pass IVA ??
Fabulous, well done Richard. Now would be a good time for a Premium Bonds win !
Thanks Chris - yes but in bidding terms still a long way off the Reserve !
Looking a bit healthier now.
"Reserve nearly met" with < 1hr 15 mins left - at a smidge over ?80k......
Someone MIGHT get a bargain :-)
Cheers,
Hedge
20 mins to go. I’ve been keeping an eye on it most of the afternoon.
Quite exciting really :D
Bingo! Reserve met with 3 mins to go :D
Congratulations for securing your sale Peter (& commiserations too for having to let the car go).
It was exciting to watch as an interested observer. Must have been a little more fraught at the sharp end?
Cheers?

What did it fetch in the end? I lost the link..
Cheers,
Hedge
Well done Peter - I can only imagine you must have a strange mix of emotions seeing it sell, but hopefully overall you're very pleased to have got what you wanted
Have a great weekend
Cheers G
Here you are Andrew - LINK
That's a proper dangerous website.
I've been picturing myself wafting around in a LWB Jaguar Sovereign for the most part of the day and even registered to bid..... just as the bidding went a bit uppity. Still got 2 days to go tho.
Yes thanks for comments guys . Very mixed feelings about letting it go but it will allow me to move on and do some other things while I am still able.
TBH I didnt think it would make the reserve !
