Really Retro Show Sunday 7th July 2024. Penkridge Market, Penkridge, Staffordshire, ST19 5AP.

A few club members attended last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Must admit the show was much bigger than I expected and well organised. Great variety of cars and clubs with number of trade stalls.

I have messaged the organisers and we have 5 places on hold @?4 /car incl passengers until end of Feb for a club stand.
Please reply to post if you are interested in attending so I can confirm with organisers.

I am going to order tickets early next week if anyone wants one. Organisers prefer a group booking. Please confirm by Monday 4th March so I can book as group.

The organiser gave me some more time just in case more people interested.
I have now completed the booking form for the 5 of us as detailed in 2nd post (noting Robin paid directly to organisers)

I see the RR organisers are asking for final commitments - I can still make this if spots are available. Will the club space be under cover ?

Chris, it's Neil who's sorting this for the club, but he's away till the weekend....he'll likely catch up with stuff shortly.

The organisers have got back and there is space if you want it. PPal me ?4 as gift as per details in post No3 and I’ll sort. Note we will be given an arrival window as the show is quite large and we are expected to enter in convoy. I’ll sort a rendezvous nearer the time. Let me know if you send the money.

I have just received the 5 passes which I will distribute in the next few days. ( Robin, you should have received yours from the organisers)
Our allocated arrival has been scheduled between 09:00 and 09:10. I will sort a suitable meeting point ( the pet shop lady got rather excited last year as we had parked in the car park outside) in due course. 6 cars should make for quite a nice spectacle.

.......and it looks like we have been allocated covered hard standing space the same as last year (6 cars not 4 as indicated on the plan). Please see attached site plan.
If anyone has local knowledge on a rendezvous point let me know otherwise I will have a search on google maps

Sadly, I don't think that I'll have my car back in time for this event.
I drove it down to the Light Car Co. this last Monday to be worked on. It was backfiring and popping, carbs were spitting, the idle was all over the place and it was generally not running very well. I suspect an air leak in the carbs as the shafts had some play - but we'll see. It did seem to be quite a fast change in behaviour, which I wouldn't expect from a slowly degrading seal. It may be something quick to fix, but realistically, I think the carbs will be off for a rebuild.
I'm hoping to have it back by mid-July for Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley, and the LMC national rally.

Justin, that is a shame, I was looking forward to meeting you and having a close inspection of a Real one.

Still, catch up at the LMC day.

Thanks both. I'm really hoping to have it back for the LMC weekend. I've not heard anything from them so far, which is a bit of a shame. It might just be sat there as I left it if they've had an important / louder shouting customer bring something else in.

I drove my Fulvia back when I dropped the Stratos off. The Fulvia is an ex-works car and has been for sale for a couple of years with the Hairpin Co. It also wasn't running very well when I got in it (unsurpisingly after being stood for so long), with a 2k rpm idle that gradually faded to 0rpm, plenty of popping and backfiring. It got me home ok anyway. After a quick check, I found multiple air leaks on the DCOE45 rubber mounts where they join the inlet manifold. Had the carbs and mounts off, cleaned and blown through and re-sealed the mounts and it seems to be running fine.

I say it's running fine - but I notice fuel dripping out of both pump nozzles on one carb on tickover. The fuel pressure seems ok at ~2.8psi (no return line), so I'm just going out to check the float height. The needles are Viton tipped and fairly new (I think I installed them just before it went off to not be sold).

Any DCOE experts on here?

Thanks again Neil for arranging this event for the club. A good turnout of our car’s luckily we were positioned under cover when the heavens opened at dinner time. It was nice meeting up with James and Chris in there cars. Robin did pop in for a natter ( looking well considering all the bits he’s had replaced / repaired etc )
