Re: Litton Corse For Sale
Marc. Sorry to hear you are working so hard and are selling.
Good luck with the sale though
Re: Litton Corse For Sale
If it's running and driving is it not worth spending a little time to take it for an IVA test? If the resulting list is small and easily fixed the car has got to be more valuable?
Either way, good luck with the sale and hope to see the car out and about in the not too distant future!

Re: Litton Corse For Sale
Good Evening All
Just thought I would give you an update
So on Ebay I have over 1200 views and 416 watchers but no serious enquiries
I've had one gent who wanted to take the car to France, I think he thought he could just drive over there no problem
Others have offered ?10k and ?15k, I'm guessing the two Alpha engines shoud be worth ? 2 or 3 k
So dissapointed, may be there are no more " real car building nutters " left, everybody seems to want a finished car that
is all sorted for between ? 10 and 20k
If anyone out there who wants to make a sensible offer please feel free
Thanks
Marc

Marc
So sorry to hear that.
I think the current generation want cars that bits can just be taken off and new "performance bits" bolted on.
Big loudspeakers, LED lights underneath, turbo dump valves etc.
I don't think they grew up watching proper Rallying and F1 on TV where enthusiasts raced, rather than big corporations where it seems to be more about "the show" . This means they did not get to mess with cars and engines - not that you can on modern cars.
They have no knowledge or skills on how to work on and/or look after an older car. ( I say that with a son with a 1.4l Suzuki Swift who has no interest in my car and I have to fix blown bulbs on his Swift. He has a 1st class honours degree in computer science though !!!!)
Current Haynes manuals cover how to add washer fluid etc, but anything else is a "specialist job"
I rebuilt a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine engine and gearbox with a Haynes manual.
Re: Litton Corse For Sale
Marc,
I'd stick to your guns for at least a couple more months. Spring is just about here.
I agree that the car builder's of yore are getting less, but I think there is still a market for your kit.
Can you split what there is to make the asking price less? That would be my tactic.
Re: Litton Corse For Sale
I completely agree with the above, all car markets are suffering at the moment , so people are throwing insulting offers around, question is, how many part built Stratos kits are available right now? . . . especially with the potential to be as good as Steve's & the ex- Chris Savage Corse.
On the subject of the youngsters, my eldest's first car is almost certainly going to be a Beta Coupe, which he will have re-built, while he serves his apprenticeship as soon as he finishes his GCSE's in July, all is not lost !
