Mark. Please tell us more about the RS200
Well you've come to the right place for finding a part built kit but there are very few that come to the market. Have you got your name down on the Hawk or LB waiting lists? It doesn't cost anything for Hawk until we ask for a deposit in about 3 years! And, if you've found something else in the meantime just let us know and we'd take your name off the list.
And, in the meantime - please show us your RS200 build!
Guy
Mark, welcome to the Club and thank you for joining, full membership will give you access all areas, which include some very detailed build threads and information.
As Guy has said, let us see some details of your RS200, we are all interested in specialist cars here, as well as Strato's es. I have a very good friend who has an original RS200 which he polishes underneath !!! but he loves to look at my LB.
Robin.
Hi thank you for the welcome
it has been my life long dream to own a stratos after seeing one at the age of 12 at a rally stage my father took me to
That gave me my rally car passion and to the RS200 , it?s a RSRetro kit comprising of their purpose built chassis that fits a real body , I purchased the kit April 2023 . To say it?s been a challenging build would be an understatement as the company closed 3months into the build , but I got there in the end Attachment 23522Attachment 23523Attachment 23528Attachment 23529Attachment 23530Attachment 23531
Mark. Thanks for the photos. It looks brilliant.
This forum will help you with any build you do.
I bought my Corse (NapierSports) bits (from an owner/starter that had not really done much) in 2010
Almost straight away Napiersports "disappeared", but all the people on this site helped me through the who process.
You've got to love an RS200. I remember going to the Ford Dealer down near Preston Docks in the 1980s (I was a teenager) to look at them with my mates. Seemed like something form another planet!
What engine is yours running?
Similarly the local Ford Dealer near me in Edinburgh had one in their showroom next to their normal stuff.
I was lucky enough to get a few passenger laps in one around Knockhill a few years ago. The owner was a computer games programer (remember Lemmings?) with a mega car habit. To be honest it felt a bit like being in a washing machine during a spin cycle and sounded harsh and loud. Memorable tho!
They were very futuristic at the time compared to my mk1 escort back in the late ,80s I also went to the Coventry Ford dealer to marvel over its design and shape
As for engine its running Porsche 936 transaxle with an Audi 1.8t with 2ltr tsfi turbo conversion that gives me 340 at the wheels ,It is very lively to say the least lol
Are there any tips on which type of kit to stay clear of when looking ?
Ideally i am hoping to find an abandoned project .Bare frame and body would be ideal ,I have plenty of time to find the right one as i have 2 customers who want me to finish there RS200s I have done one and pick the other up in 3 weeks time ,Also the first customer has found a Deon he would like finishing too LOL, so off to look at that next Tuesday ,This is his car without the light pod ,Just waiting to go to TDI for dyno work
